Why doesn't Iowa claim 4 National Championships?

I heard a new theory today that Iowa should not claim the 1958 championship because FWAA voters were racist. The thinking is that FWAA did not vote for Southern schools in the 1950's because the still had segregation and did not let black players play on their team.

This is the first time I heard had heard this theory. Not sure if it actually changes anything.
