Who said this.................?

I like this team and i like their grit. but offense wins games and defense wins championships. if you can't score more than the other team, you simply don't win and it doesn't matter how good your defense is. so while i appreciate what he's saying, it comes across as a bit of a "hey look over here" comment. Now, if he would have said that there was no catching up that the offense has to do and he believes they can compete from snap 1, then man, that'd have been great news.

KF said that on Hawkcentral. He said it with sort of a "chip on his shoulder" tone that was sort of like, "Dude, we've got a TON of talent at some key spots....stop harping on the few areas that are question marks because the areas that have always been important at Iowa are STRONG."

Or something like that.... :)

I disagree. We've had some pretty shitty offenses (2004 and 2009 come immediately to mind) win a ton of games. We've also had some pretty good offenses (2001, 2005, 2010) that didn't win much. If you want to say that OPPORTUNISTIC offenses win games, I could go there with you. 2015 was a perfect example of that. We didn't have the greatest running game in the world, we gave up 30 sacks, and CJ was limping around on a gimpy wheel....but we were near the top of the rankings in 3rd down conversions, redzone scores, and conversion of opponent turnovers into points. That kind of offense definitely wins games.....

With Easley, VandeBerg, Fant, and Wadley, the only thing holding back the passing game IMO is the playcalling. With Davis gone, I gotta think we'll see some improvement there. This team is being very very undersold.

Snyder was by far the best offensive coordinator I have seen coach at Iowa. It wouldn't hurt my feelings one bit if one day I have to give that credit to Brian. Please God make it happen. :D

Not to mention getting rid of Bobby "2 face pie eating contest winner" Kennedy....

From everything I've seen so far, Copeland appears competent and relates to the players very well.

If we have a head coach and the OC with a chip on their shoulder that's a very good sign. Phil kind of had the same tone regarding the DL. That tone usually filters down to the players also so they should have something to prove right out of the gates. I like it ... better than the "we'll see how it goes" approach.

Bingo . . . Bango . . . Bongo

Hayden Fry used anger to turn the program around. A "that's football" approach will garner us 6 wins. An angry approach (with godhelpus, some unpredictability) will deliver a better record. If I was a player and kept reading from board moderators: "Well, we're gonna lose to the good teams and beat the bad teams" I would be pissed.

Agree with you on this. It's not like we have a bunch of Div-III level talent guys at WR. The other teams will load the box and play nothing but man-to-man on us...until they get burned!
Something in my gut keeps telling me that the Freshman stud from Waukesha is gonna be a helluva playmaker for us!

And Quarterback...possibly.

For what it is worth, he does have 2 former WRs on NFL rosters now (Tevaun Smith, Riley McCarron). So do we at least give him credit for development? Not many Hawk WRs from the last 20 years have made NFL rosters.

Ironically, they didn't do much while at Iowa. Kinda supports my opinion if you ask me... ;)
