What happened to Brommer?

What happened to all of our inside guys? What a freaking pathetic performance on the boards. Cartwright our leading rebounder is absurd. Archie needs to graduate and move on, as we simply can't improve with him and Brommer using up two scholies next year sitting on the bench due to a lack of talent for one and habitual fouling syndrome in the other.

Archie played a decent game. Basabe got in foul trouble early and never really got back into the game mentally. Brommer was injured. What do you expect...someone had to make rebounds and Cartwright happened to be the one with the most. As for lack of talent, how many games have you watched this year? Seriously, Brommer and even Archie have shown they have ability and Basabe is going to be something special.

Iowa got destroyed on the boards today, if the numbers don't show it, watching the game it seemed that way. It is about effort and the only Iowa guy sticking his nose in consistently was Bryce. Basabe and Cole did not body up and block out very good today, if they would have, maybe MSU would have been called for some over the back. However, by not blocking out, it allowed MSU's larger players to tip the ball out too much.

Archie did not play a decent game. He has no feel for the game on offense or defense.

Archie was at least respectable today. He showed some athletic moves and got some rebounds. He might haved scored except someone made a great block. He is not a starter but someone who can come of the bench and help. If we do not recruit someone taller than 6'8'' for next year, we better hope he comes back.

Probably a product of his injury history and spot playing time, now I don't think he should just be handed playing time, but he was a JUCO player that didn't start a lot there. Archie has some good attributes, but he has to get better, being a fourth-year junior, it is debatable if that will happen. All I want to see is Brommer/Archie be stopgaps to Meyer/Woodbury/Thok and get through next season. Iowa needs more talented post players, everybody knows that, but both Brommer/Archie will be seniors, lets see what each can do in year two with the current staff.

Michigan State has three players with junk in the trunk who were knocking our guys out of the way all night under the basket by simply backing or moving into them: Draymond Green ( 6-6, 230), Derrick Nix (6-9, 270), Delvon Roe (6-8, 230). The weights for Green and Roe are from the official Sparty site and to me appear under-stated. The officiating crew let the players play most of the night, and as a result Mel, Devon and Andrew were no match. Jarryd was holding his own but largely was away from the basket and not tall enough to come inside and grab boards over Nix, Green or Roe. We need to get a strong, developed big for next year.
