I was at the game and I saw Fant on the sideline. He came into the game for one play in the 4th quarter. He was wide open but Stanley did not even look on that side of the field. He instead tried to dump it to Sgt in a cover 2 and the pass fell incomplete. Looked like they put Fant in strictly as a decoy. After that play I never saw Fant on the field again. I wonder if he said something while coming off the field. Ever since his brother tweeted, it seemed the coaches took him out of future game plans. Wow, the hubris of benching a 1st team all-american and likely 1st round draft pick to make a point that there will be no dissension even by FAMILY members??!! #winningtherightway #losewithdignity
 
Our only hope is that somehow they keep hyping one of the worst college qbs I have seen, as the next Big Ben, and he leaves early

That response isn't sufficiently conciliatory, doubt he will be targeted more than a couple of times in the last couple of games. The press is too scared of Ferentz to ask him hard, direct questions re: Fant. So they use Fant as their pawn and he is falling into the trap. He needs to keep his mouth shut, answer questions with "No comment" and move on.

Otherwise Ferentz will speak ill of him to NFL teams. Ride the bench, keep quiet and he can still have a great career. Keep talking and the GMs will shy away from taking on a project. Totally unfair, but sometimes life isn't fair.

Strategically - agreed. Watching Fant the last month - blocking hasn't improved.
That pick at Penn St on the 3yd line - everyone else knew the play - except Fant - TD if knows - watch it again.

Watching his first 6 snaps today from North End Zone view - 84 has to tell him to line up 3 times.
His effort getting off the line in 2nd half - doesn't equal the athleticism he possesses.

Reminds me of Clayborn in 2010 - you are projected and have the measurables to make a lot of $$ - but trying not to get hurt. That doesn't work in performance. I don't blame the players - it would be hard to not do the same in that situation.

Seriously, Watching this video just pisses me off. He’s “not sure” why the coaches decided to reduce his role. Fant and Hockenson should always be on the field.
