We should have had a Gane Day thread.

Hate to be the asshole in this thread, but I don’t think it matters that much if it is Hecklinski or Brown are the starter @Washington next week.

Either way they will have to grind out a win.

I mean, I think they will have to grind out any win from here out. Unless some teams haven't figured out what all 3 FBS teams they faced have apparently figured out about the run game.

There’s a lot of spots on this roster that could be better, but that’s Iowa every year. We have to survive the injuries, turnovers and mental mistakes. We can’t afford to out talent teams like the Buckeyes.

In our two B10 games combined

97 rushing yds total
45 attempts
<2.2 yards per carry

48.5 rushing ypg average

I think we would all agree something needs to change on offense.
New players seem unlikely at this juncture.
Seems to leave new scheme as the only viable solution

Got a reality check today. No way they win out playing like they played today. The back end of the schedule looks more difficult than it did a month ago.
I don’t know man, OSU is in a whole different solar system. They have the best player in college football by a mile and a better supporting cast than probably anyone other than Texas or Georgia.

I’m not saying we do win out, but there’s a decent chance the Big Ten sends 4 teams to the CFP. I think this is a bubble team for sure.

At least until our 2 best DBs and starting QB got hurt. Hecklinski might be a capable replacement but I think the only thing we know about either of these guys is we don’t know which version of either is going to show up.

Ohio St is just a terrible match up for us, especially without a mobile QB, average corners, lack of elite pass rusher and a backup safety. That allowed them to go down the field at will and stack the box with atleast 8 defenders. Illinois did better offensively because they had more mobile qb play and that lightened the box because they spread them out. We are still a very good team, not great team and nobody else on the schedule will be able to exploit our defense like that. JS4 is 1 of 1 and there is nobody in college football that can cover him.

That kid beat us single handed
