I have always been treated well in Lincoln both for basketball and football. I usually had my son with me, and a kid tends to slow down the jerkedness. In general, I expect some good natured boos and jeers when I enter another teams stadium in my Hawk colors, but I have never had anyone act in appropriately towards me or my kid in 15+ years of attending games. I hope Husker fans are treated as well in our venue as well. And let's not pretend that our welcome would be any better in lincoln. The chances Iowa sweeps nebraska at home are pretty slim, and we're gonna get treated the same way. That's college sports, folks.
I've been to football games in lincoln numerous times since the first year they joined, and there's been a stark difference in how we were treated when they were good vs. now. The 2011 game we got treated like kings because we were the whipping boy. After that, not so much.I have always been treated well in Lincoln both for basketball and football. I don't have a problem with some good natured heckling. That should absolutely be expected but it should be light-hearted and in the nature of good people on different side of a kids game rivalry. I give as good as I get, but always with respect and a smile.I've been to football games in lincoln numerous times since the first year they joined, and there's been a stark difference in how we were treated when they were good vs. now. Also, the '24 game we were up in the endzone surrounded by a sea of the most obnoxious Husker fans imaginable and they got worse as the game went on and it became apparent nebraska was probably going to win. When we ended up winning, walking out of Kinnick amongst them made the 19 degree temps worth it. The chants of Let's Go Hawks set to the tune of their Go Big Red call and answer bullshit while their ugly ass heifers were flipping everyone the bird warmed me up better than any hot chocolate ever could have. After every TD or big play there was a group of grenades in front of us who whipped out their phones and put us on their Snapchat story. I just sat there btw, no fred hoebag swiping at phones by me.
I'm 100% respectful when I travel to visitor places. And I like it when Iowa fans are chill. Indiana, Oregon, Penn State, pretty much every fan base is mostly decent in Kinnick and Carver for the most part. But there does not exist a universe where I'll ever get mad about our fans heckling nebraska fans, players, or staff into oblivion.
I don’t ever partake in heckling fans and I never get f-bomby anywhere. When I’m at a visiting stadium I’m quiet as a mouse unless it’s cheering for my own team. Part of it is I don’t drink so I never get liquid don’t-give-a-shit. I like having my faculties but it’s just a personal choice, if someone else wants to get lit up I’m all for it.I don't have a problem with some good natured heckling. There is no call to ever be an asshole to an opposing fan, even if you have been treated poorly in their gym. I consider fans who are assholes to visiting fans some of the biggest scumsuckers in the pond. People like that need to grow up or control their booze intake. Its just a game and that is a human being you are being an asshole to.
My experience has been that Nebbie fans mostly abide by this same approach. I enjoy giving Nebbie fans shit as much as anyone, but many of them are also my friends, family and neighbors. So, its gonna be respectful "F Nebbie" chanting on my part.
I am generally pretty reserved while the game is still in doubt. I get louder when we are going to win. I have been to three blowouts in Lincoln and ringing the bottom of the bowl with loud Hawkeye fans after the Husker fans headed for their cars is one of my favorite memories.I never talk trash to opposing fans, because this is the Hawks we're talking about. The moment I start trash-talking while up 3 touchdowns is the moment we start pissing the game down our leg and lose on a last-second fieldgoal. I just don't like the taste of crow that much.
Me, too. Saw either 3 or 4 games ( ?) in Lincoln and never saw us lose. Merry Thanksgiving!I am generally pretty reserved while the game is still in doubt. I get louder when we are going to win.
