Frankly this is how the teams should be selected, not by a bunch of numbers kicked out by computers.

Will never happen.

I think they should use computers, just not a simple outdated program that can rank a team 70th that didn't beat 1 team in the top 100 all year.

It's actually none. Teams from the same conference can't meet until the Sweet 16 at the earliest.
IIRC - this is not entirely correct. If a conference has a certain number of teams (7/8?), then two teams from said conference COULD meet as early as round 2, but more than likely round 3. The committee is supposed to do as much as it can to avoid conference match-ups prior to the Sweet 16, but if enough teams from one conference get in then there isn't much it can do.

Just my $.02 .. ..

Correct you are.

"However, in the summer of 2005, the NCAA changed its rules to allow intraconference matchups as early as the second round of the tournament, assuming all measures to keep the teams apart until the regional finals have been exhausted"

From Wikipedia

This is from the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship - Principles and Procedures for Establishing the Bracket:
There shall not be more than two teams from a conference in one region unless a ninth team is selected from a conference.

No more than one team from a conference may be seeded in the same grouping of four in line Nos. 1-4 and 13-16 in a region, unless a conference has four or more teams seeded in line Nos. 1-4. In line Nos. 5-12, two teams from the same conference may be placed in the same group of four.

Conference teams shall not meet prior to the regional final unless a ninth team is selected from a conference. If the committee is unable to reconcile the bracket after exhausting all reasonable options, it has the flexibility to waive this principle to permit two teams from the same conference to meet each other after the second round.

If I'm reading this correctly, the committee does not want conference teams meeting prior to the Elite 8.

GO HAWKS!!!

Sounds right to me, key line bolded though meaning they could meet in the third round (of 32).
