Typical Iowa 4th Quarter When Leading

Happy they won for sure. Blowing bigger leads late is not a one-time thing with Jan Jensen however. The Hawks will lose games, no doubt, but play a full 40 minutes from now on please. She is a good coach and she will get better.

While there were several positives from this game, don't go into prevent offense and defense. The Hawks are an aggressive team at both ends normally. Keep doing what got you there.
Jan didn't go into a prevent offense. The team got very tentative. Jan is working on them to stop it. Yes she'll get better but working with a young team can make you pull your hair out. Chit Chat is getting more used to running the offense and will only get better.
The thing about leaving Hannah in at the end of close games. Jan probably needs to do the sub for offense to defense thing but who do you replace her with. A freshman? A sophomore?

I hope you're kidding. The coaching staff wants to team to run the shot clock down later in games. It's not the players that decide to slow things down on their own.

All I'm saying is what ever they're doing is not working as they've blown leads in 3 recent games.

Maryland also had a comeback from being down 9 with 45 seconds left vs Minnesota. They won that game though.

Minnesota is not Iowa. A 9 point deficit to Minnesota for a team like Maryland coming back and winning is very likely.

A 17 point deficit to Iowa with just over 3 minutes to go should not have happened.

I am not kidding. Do you listen to the post game interviews? Hawks aren't supposed to stop running their offense to a stand still. Slowing down and holding the ball with 5 minutes on the clock is not what the coach's want.

Just for the record, I love the Hawkeye women's program and think Jensen is going to be a great coach someday. She's good now, just needs a few more seasons.

However, when I watch the team on the floor slow things down, I've not once witnessed the staff show any urgency on the sidelines.

This type of things has happened several times this year. They'll get it figured out and hope it's sooner rather than later.

I'm out for now and hope the lady hawks beat OSU tomorrow.

There was no letdown in the 4th quarter against Ohio State, a team known for its pressing defense and second half rallies.

Jan coached them up a little bit, based on what I saw on TV.

Yep. As I posted on another thread. The Hawks played a full 40. The result speaks for itself.

in the post-game interview, Jan emphasized that the coaches are really trying to get the players to keep their foot on the gas, and to NOT just slow things down and get hesitant. It seems like this young team is growing.
