If they truly are alike, I hope Bennett never goes into announcing.
I am absolutely Jonesing over that team field goal percentage. Well over 50% in this day and age? For a team that seldom gets easy fast break baskets? I doubt a Fran team got even close unless a Garza team did it (and with offensive efficiency being those team's strengths). And a TEAM assist to turnover ratio of better than 1.5-1? Sign me up for more, please. This team knows how to move the ball, take care of the ball, make the extra pass, and find the open man!
Signed Div II.McCollum won 4 national titles, Stirtz wasn't on all those teams.
That seems to be his strategy. Put a lineup of 5 guys out there all between 6'5 and 6'9. The problem we have with that is we always have a couple guys out there who can't shoot it too well. Cam can't shoot outside the paint and Combs has gotten to the point where he doesn't even want to shoot. Howard isn't a shooter either. So the vision for what Ben wants seems to be there he's just got work to do on the roster going forward. They definitely could use some more size, but I don't think McCollum will add size unless he is a really good basketball player. Basketball is kind of increasingly positionless anyway. Get long guys who can handle, shoot 3s and play D. Like throw five Keegan Murrays out there. Shouldn't be too hard, right? Mrs. Murray already cranked out two at once.
It'll be interesting to add Harris' size. He is a 6'9" guard. He apparently is still growing a bit, so we could have a 6'10" guard at some point.
I like the thought of pairing him and Sage together. Add a PG. Koch and Folgueiras in the front court. That's some length and shooting!
According to the Purdue coach, 5 Keegan Murrays ain't gonna get it done these days. They definitely could use some more size, but I don't think McCollum will add size unless he is a really good basketball player. After the Iowa game, he specifically said "Look at the top 6-8 teams in the country -- they all have multiple super tall guys who can also bang it down low" -- or words to those effects. Given his continued success over the years, the dude knows what he's talking about.
How many points has Iowa lost over the last two games due to blocked shots or intimidation at the rim by taller players? 5 blocks at the rim by Maryland, I believe. Lost count vs Purdue.
McC is a smart dude. He knows this isn't the MVC and he'll bring in height and bulk over time.

BMc said at a presser he’s getting a pg via the portal. This is pretty much where I am at too. There will most likely be a drop off and Stirtz will be missed, especially early on. But I have faith that Ben will figure out a way to be successful. I do think that likely includes getting a PG out of the portal. And if you are a PG looking to transfer, what better coach than BMC? Finally, he has shown himself to be not only a good judge of talent but a good recruiter as well.
Whens the last time Painter didn't have a 7 foot plus dude in his lineup? For as long as I can remember that's been his calling card so yeah him subscribing to that line of thinking makes all the sense in the world. It's won him the BIG ten a handful of times but no NCAA titles yet.According to the Purdue coach, 5 Keegan Murrays ain't gonna get it done these days.

During the game the other night, one of the announcers said that he has had a 7 footer every year since 2012.Whens the last time Painter didn't have a 7 foot plus dude in his lineup? Romo, however, is good. His Xs/Os is actually fun to listen to.If they truly are alike, I hope Bennett never goes into announcing.
What? Without the play-by-play guy, how am I supposed to know when the QB drops back to pass? Throws the ball? Hands it off? Gets tackled? I totally agree. The play-by-play guys I like are the ones whose voice I can stand to listen to. We joke about Beth Mowins, but she is actually not any worse than anyone else. Her voice is just not easy to listen to.Romo, however, is good. His Xs/Os is actually fun to listen to.
You know what I think they should do? Shit can the play by play guy. This isn't radio. I can see what's happening in high def from 37 angles with slow mo and rewind capabilities. I don't need a low-rent Vin Scully wannabe like Jim Nantz or Joe Buck telling me a running back took the hand off and got 8 yards.
Put Jon Gruden and Tony Romo together in a booth and let 'em cook.
You'll know when the entire defensive team and everyone in the crowd yell, "PAAAAASSSSSSS."What? Without the play-by-play guy, how am I supposed to know when the QB drops back to pass?
