Also, think about what recruiting used to be? Like tons and tons of hours spent on 15-17 year old kids trying to get them to come to your school, just to spurn ya last second and pick someone else. When that would happen, you lost SO much because of the equity and time coaches had to get a kid to signing day. Just for them NOT to become part of your basketball team.
That still happens, but I bet the hours and hours, and years of recruiting a players is less than it's ever been. When you lose someone, you don't lose the money you pledged to that recruit and can now go use it elsewhere.
