There's been a HUGE VOID in this year's team

I don't know if you all have noticed, but the jump pass is extinct.
:)

I played against mister jump pass a couple weeks ago at the rec and my team won because he turned it over with a....jump pass the last two possessions of the game.

I for one do not miss that play at all and I really hope Fran is bringing in another pg this spring.

We like to give Cully a hard time for his jump passes. But considering the motionless offense he was forced to run last year, I give him credit for trying to do anything to generate movement and open shots. But ya, I won't miss him seeing him do it next year.

Also we've seen less of the patented 4+ minute stretch without a bucket. Hopefully next year that to will go the way of the jump pass.

Cully's jump-passing is just an adaptation by him to overcome his size/quickness deficiencies. If it works,I am fine with it. I do not remember him getting burned as the season wore on last year. He can make it work.

Are you in favor of the jump pass?
Anyone reading my stuff in years past would know my disdain for the jump pass.

I understand that it's required in desperate times, and it can get you out of a pinch. But we were seeing 3-5 jump passes a GAME from the players the last few years. It was ridiculous.

The jump pass was replaced by the driving baseline and stepping out of bounds. I keed.

I actually almost added this to the original post, but held off.

You are right, though. The baseline gobbles up Iowa players a lot this year.

I blame it on the learning curve and trying to arc that curve the other way.

And for the record, it wasn't just Cully doing the jump pass last season. Many other Iowa BB players were guilty of it... not just Cully.

I meant in no way to point him out.

It got to a point the last few years that I thought it was being taught by the staff.

It had to be part of what was being taught. Sounds dumb, but you all are right... it happened too much for it not to be a part of practice. Remember the drive the lane jump over the out of bounds line and throw it to the 3 pt shooter on the opposite side wether he was open or not play that the Hawkeyes ran under Lickliter?

Another thing about this year... we actually win most opening tips. We won more opening tips this year than we have the last 3! I don't actually have that stat for proof, but I would bet we have.

When you mentioned a huge void, I thought you were talking about a certain personnel loss:
