Agreed. I know they did this to take some of the heat of in the short run but long term this is going to look bad. It looks like they're trying to hide.

Man, there are a lot of steaming piles lying around State College, aren't there? Because The Second Mile just found yet another one to gleefully jump into.

Lou Holtz already issued his statement. He said he spoke for them once and didn't know he was on the honorary board until two days ago. There are a ton of big names there and I wonder what they'll all say.

It's not uncommon for big coaches like Holtz, Millen, Andy Reid to lend their support to charity organizations like this...without having any real involvement with day-to-day operations.

Often they will speak at camps, make appearances and lend their names and faces to fund-raising efforts for the cause. That's a long way from knowing what might be going on behind the scenes. They largely trust the people running the show, and in this case...probably Paterno's association with it.

It's a big leap to implicate everyone on that list.

Nobody is doing that.

But when you go out of your way to hide things - such as who is involved in the organization - it simply looks like you've got things to hide.

Anybody who was deeply involved in The Second Mile deserves to also be raked over the coals in this.

FWIW I was not implying that at all. It wouldn't surprise me in the least to find out that 98 or 99% of those people are totally blameless.

Understood.

And that's probably why they took down the list of names. They don't want all these people harrassed unfairly.

Next to the victims, they're probably the people hurt most by this. Believing they're working for an org that's doing so much good...and then having all this come out.
