The reality of it

Iowa will likely never challenge for football supremacy It was men vs boys today and it is only get to be a wider disparity with the NIL and the teams like Ohio State buying players to round out their great recruiting classes. Evy did it with a few good players many of them playing both ways. Fry almost did it with some difference makers a great coaching staff and some great offensive and defensive minds.
Unfortunately college football will now be dominated by 10 or 12 teams with the rest playing to be the top of the second division. Makes the Iowa State game probably the big game of the year

Ummmm I said that immediately after we lost to Iowa State.

The schedule with most of what was supposed to be a top defense returning. Like another poster said on another thread “all smoke and mirrors” beat inferior weak non-conference teams and the lower half of the conference in the puke West division and poof you have your wins. What are we in score total against top ten teams 180-7? Very revealing.

There’s the men’s teams and the women’s teams in college football. Iowa is somewhere in between.

I believe I heard the announcer say Ohio State spent $21M for transfers. There were at least 4 starters that were transfers from SEC schools and the QB from Kansas State. I didn't expect the results to be much different than the final score. I could put some of the blame on Kirk for not recognizing his offensive strategy is doomed, but when the cards are stacked against you talent wise and money wise it is a waste of time ever thinking you have a chance.

I'm sure I have a defeated attitude. I had it before the season started and the loss to Iowa State just confirmed that Iowa doesn't have the offensive talent to beat ranked teams. This looks like a 6 and 6 team. The people that matter have a decision to make about Kirk and how they can find the resources to buy a team.

I know and said this was a loss before the season even began. I think most fans thought that would be the case.

Now the question is if that is why there isn’t much of a reaction on the forum here or has apathy set in or both?

No, we'll never be elite under him. No, we can't afford players like others. No, we don't live in a region that produces a ton of D1 players. However, we have won 9.4 games per year in the last 8 non-COVID seasons. We've also finished in the top 2 of our division 7 of the last 9 years. The other 2 years we were 3rd. Yes, the division was filled with mediocre teams, but we've (at least I have) had a lot of fun cheering for winning teams for quite a stretch. We're top 5 in wins in CFB the last 10 years. There are a couple of potential replacements on staff, but can anyone guarantee KFs recent success? Be careful what you wish for.

This is the same conversation that's happened in this forum since the beginning and most fans are ok with the wins even though it hasn't lead to any real success.

I don't have much of a reaction after this one because it's what I expected and I had prepared myself for it, just like the Troy game. I reacted after the MN game because it was arguably a 50/50 game.

There are different levels of success and I think we've found out our peak. It's kind of like dating 7's. Not bad, but it's the best some can get, even though they dream of 10's.

I’m amused that suddenly someone fans think there’s a problem with the program…that maybe Iowa should be better!!!

Have they been in a comma?

Kirk has neglected the offense for over a decade- it’s going to take years to fix that

I’ve had a great life dating 7’s…not going to lie, the one or two “everybody looking at her why is she with him” moments have been awesome.:)

Vanderbilt beat Alabama
Minnesota beat USC
Arkansas beat Tennessee

Having a pulse against ranked opponents…I’m guessing that is too much to ask for now.

When the announcers said that Ohio St has a $20 Million roster, my thought was..............uh oh

We gotta get a QB someday guys. At this level you cannot win with a bottom tier Qb. That’s what we are attempting
