Linebacker from Iowa City just committed to Minnesota. 247 had him a 4 star and second best player in Iowa and apparently we didn’t offer??

Curious what the story is on this kid. None of Iowa, ISU or UNI offered. Only visit was to Minnesota.

24/7 says he had offers from Arizona, ASU, Nebraska, Wisconsin, WVa, Purdue, Tennessee, Notre Dame, NDSU (as well as some group of 5 schools)

I wonder if Iowa just had other LB's they liked better, and Iowa doesn't throw around offers like other schools, so they hadn't formally offered yet. Can't blame the kid for committing to Minny, but wonder if Iowa misses on a few other targets, if they come back and try to flip him before signing day.

Which would be funny to watch the Gopher meltdown.

Another LB from I think Sioux City commits to the rodents. 247 had him as 10 th best player in Iowa. Don’t think we offered
Minnesota getting all its LBs from Iowa

All I can think of is Iowa is pretty stacked with young LBs for the foreseeable future. Beyond that if there's a reason why not him and we are after anyone else I just wouldn't have a clue

KFz doesn't guarantee guys playing time. PJ may have.

Still surprising that Iowa didn't even offer. I would think there's something more to the story
Iowa knows what kind of kids they want and they don’t really compromise. They know way more than we do if the kid would be a good fit. You can’t go on talent alone when you’re a school like Iowa. An Ohio State can because there’s plenty of other guys (and plenty of money) in the pipeline behind everyone.

One thing you don’t hear much if at all with Iowa football is locker room drama queen issues. I’d rather keep it that way. The last one I can think of is Noah Fant & Co.

tl;dr…I trust Iowa’s coaches more than I trust myself and a bunch of Internet forum randos.

Iowa got the two linebackers hey went after and shut it down after that. I know, they could have offered earlier but as Fry notes, there could have been reasons we don't know. In our system now that is pretty heavily reliant on the Cash position, we don't need three linebackers every year.

Maybe he let it be known that he was going to leave the state?

Otherwise, can you come up with any other Iowa kid who has been offered by as high of profile programs as Tennessee, Notre Dame, Nebraska, Wisconsin...but not by any of the three Iowa schools?

Or possibly he told ISU and UNI early on that he wasn't interested (for obvious reasons), and Iowa decided he wasn't in their top 3 of LBs to offer?

Or Iowa wanted him to wait a little longer, and he got an offer from Minnesota that he felt like he couldn't turn down? That might actually be where I am landing. He seems like the exact type of guy Iowa wants in the program...an all around athlete with size and speed who loves to compete. He's the type Iowa usually says lets get him on board and we'll figure out a spot later, even if we end up moving him to TE, DE, H-back, fullback, etc.

His dad is also a Regina guy, I knew him some growing up. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he still ends up a Hawkeye at some point.

The word culture is an overused buzzword, but it still matters in sports, specifically football. And life after Kirk, the following HC better understand that.
