From article:

Stirtz is the second Hawkeye to be named to the Bob Cousy Award Midseason Top 10, joining Jeff Horner, who was an award finalist during the 2005-06 season. He has also been named to the 2025-26 John R. Wooden Award Midseason Top 25 and he is a Sporting News third-team Midseason All-American.

Fans are encouraged to participate in Fan Voting in both of the remaining rounds starting on Friday, Feb. 6, on hoophallawards.com. The Fan Vote will count as one committee vote during the finalist selection process.

To have Iowa with a player to be considered is an amazing change from the point guard deficiencies we have had in years past.

This whole team is a contradiction to the Fran era. Top 10 PG nationally, sticky defense is a requirement to see the floor, sharing the ball is prioritized over 1-1, and not afraid to use the entire shot clock. Ben is intense on the sideline, but measured and seemingly respectful. Yep, this is a very different team and program.

Yep, I love it. I like Fran, but I love this new program.

All those qualities you describe make the Hawks a tough out. Both down the stretch and in post season play. They won't beat themselves or go away.

The ideal path seems to be a 6 seed, first round win, and then a 50/50 match-up against a 3 seed in order to finally dance into the second weekend. I'll take those chances. Really need to avoid the 7-10 seed slots and then 1 or 2 seed second round match-up.

Agreed. I think we are playing a bit over our talent level, but that is what a good coach and focused system will do. The old adage that guard play is what wins tournament games seems to foretell good things for Iowa. As long as Stirz is on and our other shooters are making shots, this will be a tough team to beat. Defense and solid PG play travel well to a neutral site games.

The last time Iowa had a PG drafted the Berlin Wall was still standing.
