This is insane, the NCAA needs to disband already as they clearly have zero control over anything anymore.

Can we bring back Noah Shannon? At least he didn't bet on his own team (womens basketball).

Brendan Sorsby granted injunction to play for Texas Tech in 2026

Sorsby had filed a lawsuit against the NCAA after he was ruled ineligible for placing bets on Indiana while he was a redshirt freshman for the Hoosiers in 2022.

While the NCAA has flaws and deserves criticism on many fronts, I cannot see how this is on it. The NCAA did the right thing and ruled him ineligible. They then fought the lawsuit. But, what can you do when a crooked local judge decides to make one set of rules for Texas kids and one for the rest of the country? Add that to the list of things Congress needs to fix if it can pass a reform bill.
 
I read the opinion. What a bunch of horse shit. Even assuming that his contrived gambling addiction was real, since when does addiction mean that there are no consequences for not following the rules????

So, I get drunk and kill a family with my car, but I don't have to go to prison because I go to rehab and am declared an alcoholic? Not the way things work. But, all you need is one local judge to corrupt the entire system.

Pete Rose just rolled over in his grave.....
 
What a total crock of shit. The hypocrisy of the NCAA or judges is absolute horseshit. There is no consistency with anything and they decide how the wind blows.
 
Wish I was surprised... Noah Shannon sure got the shaft. Opens up quite the can of worms.

The one time the NCAA did the right thing... They suspended him and then fought it in court when he appealed and did all this. This is on the court system. The initial local judge actually recused himself but whomever this clown is must've got gotten to. There's no logic to allow for this. None what so ever.
 
These rouge judges are out of control. This is not the NCAA as North has stated. The judge was a retired judge from Tarrant County which is the Fort Worth area so he is not exactly local. But still, this strains credulity. I hate it.

This is an old SWAC Team, the judges are paid for by the donors Good vid on you tube on how the SWAC died. One honest coach self reported and the walls came crumbling down . cant remember his name but he ended up at Minny
 
I bet (pun intended) the judge has seats on the 50 yard line at Jones Field. If he didn't before, he will now.

This 'temporary injunction' will be overturned before the season starts. Bet on it.

I'm sure you can, somewhere.
 
I am not a Texas lawyer, but it is usually hard to get a temporary injunction overturned quickly on appeal. The case is not over. This is a temporary injunction. So, usually the court of appeals would have to agree to take an appeal in the middle of the case, which is not the norm. I am sure the NCAA will seek an appeal now, but it might be tough to get the injunction overturned in the next 60 days. That said, it is such a bad opinion and its a high profile enough case that the appellate court could take it up on an expedited basis. Maybe if there are some Long Horn judges on the court of appeals there might be a shot.....
 
I was just flipping channels and heard Collin Cowturd's take on this. He basically said, these are kids, they are not professionals like Pete Rose, I don't think a kid should be buried for making a mistake, this seems okay. As usual, he is wrong across the board. Sorsby is a legal adult. He is getting paid millions of dollars to play football. He made over 9,000 bets, some on his own team.

This "kid" should never see another snap of college football and I would not draft a kid as my QB with such shitty judgment.

It was mind blowing to me there's anyone with a platform advocating for him to be eligible.... Until we realize that all it took was a few short yrs of all these networks and leagues getting in bed with those gambling sites to start making an impact. I'd bet a dime to a dollar that Cowherd has Draft Kings or one of em as a major sponsor to his show.

There's no line anymore. Just selective adjudication.

I'm disgusted just like so many others. This is an unintended consequnce of NIL. Too much money invested to have a player sit out. TTU people are blinded.

Appeal is scheduled for February 2027. He’ll play all year.

I'm not saying this is the NCAA's fault, what I'm saying is they have no power anymore. The $EC and now $EC area courts are controlling what the NCAA can and cannot do. If the NCAA does have any true authority then any games that Texas Tech plays with Sorsby participating in should be forfeited or ruled exhibition games.

If I want to put some blame on someone, outside of the crooked judge, I'll put it on Texas Tech who is allowing this to happen when they knew his past.
 
Now a whole lotta schools ADs are coming out saying they are taking TT off their schedules for all sports not just football... Boy oh boy this could get interesting depending on how serious and how many schools get involved. Pull up a chair the drama isn't done yet

Again, I am not a Texas lawyer, but you have this mixed up. The trial judge, the one who issued the temporary injunction, set the trial for February 2027. That seems like the normal course of things. The NCAA has filed a motion with the court of appeals to have the appeal heard now and on an expedited basis. That is what I was expecting and it shows the NCAA is doing its part. We will see what the appeals court does.

The court of appeals is apparently made up of 4 Tech alums. Such a joke. So, in order for there to be any shot at justice here, these Tech judges would have to agree to take the appeal now, agree to hear it and decide it quickly, and rule that the trial court's order is horse shit. Anyone want to put odds on that all happening?
