ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!
Sad because it is so true. Many talk of IF we can finish in second place in our division it's an achievement. I guess I have trouble with that. I think back to the days when ten teams (or eleven if you want to include Penn State) competed against each other in one conference and one division. If we went back to that standard I would have try to be fair and say this; In my opinion the East division is so much more stronger than the west and Iowa would be very fortunate to finish in third or fourth place in that division. Throw in Wisconsin and that possibly pushes Iowa into a fifth place finish going up against the entire conference in ONE division.
Somehow I find that distasteful and unimpressive. Yet some seem perfectly content with it. This is not the spirit of true competition. A true competitor sets goals to be the very best. To win an outright conference title and contend for a national title. That should be the goal every single year. Is it obtainable? Of course not but it should be the goal and hope of everybody coach player and fan of Iowa football. Should it be achieved at least one every so many years for each team in the conference? I guess it depends on what should be expected from any coach in any sport that is paid one of the top salaries in the sport.
Penn State, Rutgers, Nebraska, and Maryland moved us up from ten teams in the conference to fourteen. So asking a program and its coach to win the conference at least once every 15 years is totally reasonable unless your a bottom feeder program. In that case do t expect it to ever happen. I feel Iowa is anything but a bottom feeder.
I guess I can only hope that the new coaching staff brings a unique chemistry to the program and catches lightning in a bottle. As Iowa fans we all deserve to get to experience it at least once. I am hoping for the best. If it's the same ole same ole I will have a feeling of total hopelessness with this coaching staff.
Winning the B1G is Iowa and KF states goal every year.
