Section136's Thoughts

Something to chew on... Does the Hebrew Hammer rush for 100+ yds every game this year, ala Greene? Tune in to find out.

No, he's slower than I remember he was from last year. Only way he gets 100 yards every game is if he's left in to play after the games have been decided vs. tOsu, Michigan and NW. I also don't think he gets 100 yards vs mi state.

If he doesn't get 100 yards vs the clones, fire G. Davis on the spot.

Lomax was going to get picked on no matter what. You won't make a living throwing at Blow Job Lowery. Lowery was great yesterday and I don't think the blown assignment was his (pun intended). Lowdermilk was caught looking in the backfield. Go back and watch that play...Lowdermilk doesn't even make a break outside until the ball is thrown and there were two receivers over there. I think Lowery broke inside cause he thought Lowdermilk blew the coverage and his guy was the one who ended up catching the touchdown.
WTF with the "nickname"?

I find it pretty lame to blame the game on 2 throws by Rudock.

I'm not blaming the loss solely on him.

But you can't refute the fact that Iowa had a great chance of winning if he makes the throw to Powell or if he doesn't make the poor throw In the 4th quarter at the end.

There are several plays per game that could probably fall into this category, the 2 by Rudock stood out to me.

Good qb, not a strong arm. I saw at least two long balls 10-15 yards under thrown. That's a big deal.

This is a disturbing pattern but I agree with this.

But I don't think KF needs to do anything extreme and pull him right now. He won the job and he deserves the right to play.

I am rooting for him like crazy and hope he learns from Game 1.

Can you guys remember the plays or times in the game when Jake underthrew his target by 10-15 yards?
I'm about to watch the game on my DVR and I want to make sure I'm really paying attention (because I'm not HawkeyeGameFilm after all!)
Thanks.

The deep ball to Powell, his only catch, and the flea flicker were badly under thrown. I don't know about 10-5 yards but I didn't make that comment.

I might be nuts and its possible I may be way off base but I think its possible that Jake has a strong enough arm but is a half second late in letting it fly, thus the under thrown long passes. The 3rd and long bomb was perfect if Powell doesn't pause. Jakes intermediate length passes seemed to have plenty of zip. Again, a lot of folks who rewatched the game think arm strength might be a bit of an issue, so I might be wrong.

Yeah, you just said it was a disturbing pattern and you agreed with the person who posted it.

For the record, Jake didn't under throw any of his targets by 10-15 yards (that's 30-45 feet) on Saturday. But don't let the facts get in the way of a good witch hunt, eh?

Not "might." You're wrong.

I should have explained that better.

It's a disturbing pattern that I agreed with FreedComanche again. Thats like twice in the past week. We are usually on totally opposite ends of the spectrum..

Everybody wants him to succeed, but if he doesn't have a strong arm, you have a handicapped qb. Arm strength is kinda like speed. You either got it or you don't, and there is really no improving it if you don't have it. Your deep threat is hurt if you don't have a strong armed qb. Geez, had a qb with a cannon last year and didn't throw down field. You throw down field this year with a qb that has a weak long ball. What gives?

Watch the tape. He totally under threw at least two long balls. And yes by 10-15 yards. He's got lots of other good attributes, though.

I did, I am, and he didn't. You're obviously struggling with processing and quantifying distances. Please don't drive your vehicle on public roadways until you see your Ophthalmologist - you might be a danger to society.

Ok, I could be wrong. But what about the long td pass to Powell? You can't tell me that wasn't 10 yards under thown.

Jake underthrew Powell and Cotton by maybe 5 yards. Enough for both of them to have to basically stop. But he was a little late getting rid of several other passes (the corner route to KMM immediately springs to mind; that was a damn good ball if it's throw a split second earlier), so maybe it really is more an issue of making the reads a little quicker.

By no means do I think he's got an elite arm, but he can cover that up on his deep balls by making the reads soon enough that he can hit Powell (or whoever) in stride within his arm range. Stanzi was very good at that, which is why he had a very pretty looking deep ball without having a cannon.
