Scheduled visits, interests, rumors...lots of holes in this roster.

Article says Iowa is in on the #2 recruit in the state of Missouri, Bridget Fitzgerald

How old is she? After seeing Addie Deal get over-rated because she was a year older than the rest of her class, I am going to start asking this question anytime anyone brings up a potential recruit.

All the article says is she is a forward in the recruiting class of 2028

former Western Illinois guard Raegan McCowan has revealed her commitment to play for the Houston Cougars

She is from Lebanon, Missouri, down in extreme SW Missouri, the Ozarks. Closer to home maybe?

Actually Macomb, IL is about half the distance to Lebanon that Houston is so must have been something different, money maybe!!

6'4" from Newport Beach, CA, nice place that.

Hard to believe we are going after sophomores, I remember what I was like as a sophomore. But times changes, eh?

Come on JJ and staff, fill out that roster. I know those depth players are out there!

Jan in her last press conference says she hopes to add 2 more players by next week.

Also said she would still like to get a "true" point guard. Says Chit Chat, Stremlow and Carnigee can all play the point but dont match exactly what she wants from a true point guard.

Bria Medina is a 5'-6" point guard that will be a senior and has a 87% free throw percentage. Sounds like somebody you want handling the ball when Iowa has a lead late in games.

Ella Stromdahl kinda sounds like a long term project to me, but Jan and her staff must have saw something they liked.

Iowa’s current 2026-27 roster (11):

Seniors (2):
G Amari Whiting,
G Bria Medina.

Juniors (4):
C Ava Heiden,
G Chit-Chat Wright,
G Taylor Stremlow,
G Dani Carnegie.

Sophomores (3):
F Journey Houston,
C Layla Hays,
G Jocelyn Faison.

Freshmen (2):
F McKenna Woliczko,
F Ella Stromdahl

I watched some highlights on them both. I think Medina is probably not going to see a ton of time if the team stays healthy. Jan said she was looking for a pg for practice but use Taylor and Dani in games as backup pg. I like the way Medina plays and moves the ball, but we will have to see if she has the speed or size needed against high level competition. I also liked what I saw from Ella, seems to move the ball, make layups, shoot 3s and has some defense. She doesn't have much for stats though. I assume this is a fit based on style of play and size. Might be a project or just needs the right environment to flourish? I assume she is emergency depth for this year but might have a chance to develop?

We needed another high school signee for cheap and seem to have got it. Need some developmental and young bodies for practice. I suspect Medina is mainly for practice and injury insurance and also cost not much. Solid additions this late.

That junior class might be the most talented class ever at Iowa, behind only CC, Kate, Gabbie and Molly.

If something falls into Jan's lap she may add another player or 2, but this is enough to go into the season with.

This is not important but it made me wonder.

CC, Kate, Gabbie and Molly all may have been called senoirs in the same year in 2024, but were they really all considered to be in the same class? Martin was a 6th year senior while CC was a 4th year senior who could have stayed 1 more year if she wanted. Gabbie i think played 5 years. Molly was a transfer. Not sure if she sat out a year. But in the end, I guess it still counts as the same class if they all left in the same year since they either used up their elligibilty or forfeited their remaining elligibilty.

That got me thinking, who was actually in Claark's class?

Jensen would have been a good one had she stuck around:

Wettering started at UNI, but she was never more than a role player. She never would have seen the court at Iowa.

Goodman was an All-American person and was probably worth having on the team even if she did not contribute much on-court.

Its a fair point. Is it who you start with or who you end with? If you look at this year's junior class, two didn't start at Iowa and I don't know if any have redshirted. So, its a bit of a hodge podge as well. I guess the way I look at it, those 4 seniors in the '24 class were certainly linked together, as I hope the four in our current junior class will be for two years.
