Scheduled visits, interests, rumors...lots of holes in this roster.

She's 57 and waited a long time for the opportunity, could easily be around for 10 more years.
Yep, I think she is just getting started. She strikes me as taking care of her health, too, physically and mentally. And I think she loves coaching and loves the community. Could easily be looking at a 15+ year run. I hope so - things are rolling.

Curious why Jan only signed one freshman with all those graduations.

Jocelyn Faison / 6'1" Guard She'll be a 2026 Sophomore. Not much production her freshman year, but has some good traits that may translate to the Iowa system. Height, length, mobility, good defender. May be a good backup to Journey at the 3, added depth on roster.

Visiting Iowa campus this weekend.

Jan was after several highly ranked players and 1 ended up at N. Carolina and another ended up at Texas and the other is going to be a Hawkeye. I don't remember any sort of fallback players being mentioned.

Jan probably just figured if she missed on the 5-star recruits, she could just grab a couple players from the portal to fill out the roster. But I dont think she was planning on 5 different players from iowa leaving in the portal. Which of course is why the team is short on players now. Maybe next time Jan will try to recruit more 4-star recruits to fill out the roater.

I find Jocelyn Faison interesting.

A four-star recruit out of Georgia that was a teammate of new Hawk Dani last year. Also coached by former Hawk Katie Abrahamson-Henderson who resigned at the end of the year, after coaching her last game at CHA..

Are we developing a Georgia pipeline? Doesn't seem like a bad thing to me. Current Iowa assistant coach LeSondra Barrett was coaching at Georgia Tech when she was hired by JJ. Faison was offered, among others, by Georgia Tech before choosing Georgia. Barrett likely was in on her recruitment so she knows her game.

When Dani commtted to Iowa she mentioned the fan vibe at CHA as one of the reasons, she's excited to be a Hawk. Jocelyn saw that same thing.

When you read the stories on Faison, she was recruited out of HS as a small forward. She says she can shoot the 3, drive to the rim, rebound and plays tough D, what's not to like about that. She seem slike she could fit into the 2 or 3 spot. We need bodies so she would be a good fit.

Come on down or is that up from Georgia. Go Hawks

Well they were in on like 5 of the top 25ish kids or so at one point. Only landing MW is a bit disappointing to me anyway. Bjorn was the one I really really woulda liked to have had. Her and MW together seemed like a hell of a duo to pair together. Not to mention Greenway. She's going to be a hell of a player even though she's kinda on the small side. They had a chance to really put a stamp on how this team would look going forward to have hopefully have paired with Addie Deal.

But now Jans had to call a bit of an audible and we'll see how things go.

Jocelyn Faison gets us a good depth piece. Still would like to see Raegan McCowan commit. Still need to add a bit more depth & experience, maybe 3-4 more. Any other rumors out there?

Current Roster (9)

Faison should fit right in.

I'm sure JJ and staff are still looking.

I'd like to see us get someone in the 6'2"-6'3" range that could play a solid 4.

If nothing else, bringing in Faison will probably help if Dani Carnegie starts to feel homesick. Not that was going to be a problem, but it helps to have people you know around when you move to a new town, you know, just in case.

The Carnegie transfer is supposedly among the best fits among transfers:

Once again from The Athlete, well worth one dollar a month I am paying

5. Dani Carnegie, sophomore guard

Iowa (from Georgia)

Key stats: 17.8 PPG, 3.2 APG, 5.3 RPG, 1.4 SPG

Last season — when Carnegie was at Georgia and Chit Chat Wright was at Iowa — was the first time since the two were in sixth grade that they hadn’t played on a team together. So their reunion in Iowa City will be like a return to normal for both. Wright started 31 games in 2025-26 for the Hawkeyes, thriving in their system, and though Iowa lost Addie Deal as a transfer, plenty of talent returns with a rising junior core of Wright, Carnegie, Ava Heiden and Taylor Stremlow.

Coach Jan Jensen needed to replace some outside shooting, which she gets in Carnegie, and having more ballhandlers in the mix is always a positive. Additionally, Carnegie is a great, active perimeter defender who can help create havoc on that end. That will be a necessary plus for Iowa this season — five of its seven losses came in its nine lowest turnover percentage performances.

Sounds good to me, I would imagine that Chit Chat had a hand in this one

I am feeling rather positive about next years team

Now I am curious who was the #1 best fit from the portal. Not curious enough to pay a dollar to find out, but curious none-the-less.

Deal to Wisconsin

I am glad I did not pay a dollar for that. I wish the best for Addie but how is that a good fit?

Edit: Yup, I am a little slow sometimes. I should have realized that was a joke.

It looks like UCLA is reloading.

I thought we might hve a shot at the Crum,p girl, her being from Minnesota.

Why is Texas losing players? Maybe too much talent and people wanting playing time would be my guess.

Kennise Johnson is officially headed to Delaware to play for the Blue Hens.

Interesting choice. I would have thought she would have picked some place closer to her home town in Illinois. I hope she gets to play a lot of minutes there.
