Rhoads had some interesting things to say about Iowa's O-Line

I don't have any problem with the way Rhoads or Fran acts. I think expecially in basketball emotion can change the way the refs call the game and in the Big 10 the refs are notorious for bowing down to the likes of Bo Ryan and Tom Izzo. The speeches that Rhoads gives after an upset and the I'm so pwoud have a litlle to much syrup for me but I'll take Rhoads and Fran over Pelini any day.

We may be only half way thru the month but this thread wins the awesome award for September. A coach we just beat complimented our squad and all we have are personal attacks and insults in reply. Funny thing is if P.R. insulted us it would be the same. I think we've proven how classy we are and can now accept our award for expert judges on the classiness of others.

I have heard Coach Rhoads speak many times, and I interact with many Iowa State fans who know him very well. He is a tremendous human being and a class act. He is passionate about his team and his players. It is possible to respect an opposing coach. I respect this man very much. Do I want to see Iowa defeat Iowa State every year? Of course I do. But, for me, it is impossible not to feel admiration for Rhoads and the the job he is trying to do at Iowa State.
I thought his analysis of Iowa's offense was very objective and should give Iowa fans some hope for this season.

If our line schemes are so complicated, Northern Illinois must have the smartest defensive coaches in all of football. Congrats to them. Where were these brilliant line schemes last year, pray tell? Maybe the solution to stopping Iowa's vaunted offense is a closely guarded secret known only to MAC defensive coordinators and shared during special midnight meetings around a campfire, deep in the woods where virgins are sacrificed and Bo Pelini cackles while sticking pins into voodoo dolls representing various Omaha sportswriters.

Iowa gained almost 500 yards of offense against Northern Illinois. I think our schemes worked very well. The point of this thread is that Iowa's offensive line is IMPROVING and, according to Coach Rhoads, the zone blocking schemes and stretch plays are difficult to defend when there are two tight ends in the game.

We will see if Iowa can continue to run the ball against better competition. I would respectfully point out that the Big Ten is not exactly "setting the world on fire" right now. Iowa is certainly beatable, but so are many of the teams left on their schedule.

Here we go again. Enough people rag on the BIG without our own fans doing it.
Aside from the SEC. the BIG is as good as any league this year, top to bottom.
Iowa has to go to Minnesota: 3-0
MSU at home who is 3-0
Michigan at home who is 3-0
Northwestern who is 3-0
at Ohio St. who is 3-0
Wisconsin, who got the screw job of the century at ASU, should be 3-0.
at Nebraska who is 2-1. (only loss to a highly ranked UCLA team)
at Purdue who gave Notre Dame all they wanted last week.

6:25am is too early to start sniffing glue.

What the hell does that have to do with the quality of our schemes, shitstain? A well coached team is able to overcome those obstacles. We only lost one starting OL to injury and had at least one of our two top RBs healthy and available for every game, yet still finished dead last in the B1G in rushing. Nice try, moron.

The current B1G stats show Iowa 8th in total offense, 6th in rushing, and 11th in scoring offense, this despite being top 10 in the entire country in plays run, 13th in the country in time of possession, and having played one of the softest schedules in America so far. Yeah, our offensive coaches are freaking geniuses. You idiots should try watching a football game sometime, you just might learn something.

You are correct that their scoring avg doesnt match some stats. I put that on a lot of unforced dropped passes and penalties. This offense could have and should have two more TDs per game against this schedule if they just finish some drives.

And we had a bad spot against Miss St and if they go on to score (most likely) then 35-14 looks like the general KF took his foot off the gas type of game.

The passing game needs to pick it up even more and be efficient because in all three games so far the opponent has had a lot of 8 and even 9 in the box.

I wish we were good like Indiana, that way we would be #1 in all of those offensive categories...

Not sure if your an Iowa Fan or not, or what your former login was. But as you may be new to the board, it is against the rules to call other posters names.

please continue....Myth?

I think Sheldor is TylerSash. His last couple attempts to get back on the board were under GoHawks76 and GoHawks23 or something like that.

This is the thing that cracks me up when people talk about KF being to calm and boring. It's called being professional. In front of a camera, mic, reporters, public engagement, KF is calm and collective.

Those that have seen him in meetings behind closed doors, during practice, or in the case above KF can bring the fire that is needed on occasion to get his point across.

The public never sees this side of KF and that is done so by design.

You are 100% correct.

When he tries to come back here are some suggested user namers: , " I Find a way to complain about Great Booze, Great Food and Great Sex." " I won $50 million dollars, Damn it, that means I have to Pay more taxes," " I am Vince Lombardi", "I know more about football than you, just ask me" those are just a few off the top of my head.

So, a first game of the year is comparable to a third game? How many analysts continue to say that it can take a while for a team to gel?

And last year? You must have missed the part where our offensive line had that many injuries and were all young? You expect that one who starts (with little or no experience) immediately performs at the same level as one who was injured (who had at least a year of game experience)?

And, by the way, didn't we have good (not great) rushing numbers last year? (123.0 ypg) How many 100+ yard games did Weisman have last year?
