Removal of iconic Iowa water tower near Kinnick Stadium underway

Fire everybody... Some things just shouldn't be torn down. If the hospital wants to expand go somewhere else it doesn't have to be right there.

It's kind of a bummer. But it was just a water tower with the Hawk logo on it.
I mean, it did immediately shout "Kinnick" to anyone remotely familiar with the stadium.
At this point, the iconicness pales in comparison to the children's hospital. And that's OK.
It would be nice to keep it, but not in the face of necessary (?) growth for the hospital.
Maybe someday they can do a drone show and the drones can all fly over to that corner and make an image of the water tower and we can all talk about how cool that was.

Ambivalence is what I feel.

Lol. The writer made it sound like in the article that the water tower adorned the TigerHawk for the past 66 yrs. It was pretty plain for damn near all the years until after the public kept begging for it added the TigerHawk only 7-8 yrs ago.

The old water tower managed 750,000 gal of water. The new one out by Bank's field manages 2.7 mil gallons. Damn. Technology.
