Recruiting Wisconsin

Boy, has Iowa hit Wisconsin this hard in the past or had this much luck getting players from Wisconsin? The 2018 class has three from Wisconsin. It just seems like they are really having luck in Wisconsin.

In addition, there seem to be a number of players from Illinois that have committed.

yes. use to be a gravy train. in the 90s it got a bit hardermuch more successful. 1990 Rose Bowl Team had Velicer, Saunders, Kujawa, Rhuland, Derby, Antila....maybe a few others. Those guys all played SIGNIFICANT roles in getting there....they were among the best coming out of wisky in those years. I think it will remain attractive, and very attractive in years where wisky has small numbers to offer.

Iowa's taking advantage this year of Wisconsin's very small recruiting class this year. In a normal year they probably would have gone after a couple of the Iowa commits a little harder. Their needs just weren't there for Plumb and Ince. I'm not sure they really looked at Giel. Hope they do well though for the Hawkeye and make you proud.

What # of recruits will Wisconsin have for the '18 class?

Iowa's '18 class also projects to be smaller than recent years at this point. That could change with attrition.

From what us couch potatoes can figure out, we're already over by a couple. I think most think we'll take one more. A DB but if Ruckert were to commit to us..... I personally don't think Chryst will push players, it's just not in his nature, out the door so he's probably got a pretty good feel about whos returning.

Badgers just received a commitment from Indiana athlete Isaac Guerendo. I think Wisconsin was his only Power 5 offer. He's a track guy.

That was No. 18 in '18 for UW. Iowa is at 10 and expected to be around 20.

Yeah that has been rumored. It will be interesting if we also find room for one of the DBs we've been after hard. i've even hypothysized that Guerendo take a track schollie for 2018 (essentially greyshirting), he's good enough to merit one, and then joining the team in the spring or summer of 2019. There's also talk of him playing in the defensive backfield although he hasn't played there for a while.

As soon as he joins the football team, he counts against the football scholarship number if he's on a track scholarship.
