My frustration with Iowa QB's / coaches in the past is:
1. the reluctance to make a move when #1 is not playing well. Often week after week. The argument seems to be "he's the best we got". Really? We have 2 or 3 recruited QB’s on scholarship that are WORSE than the QB struggling on the field? I have trouble believing that line.
It seems such decisions are made out of fear of change. Or stubbornness.
2. Not getting #2 and/or #3 significant snaps in the early cream puff games to get some game experience.
Some players may not be great practice players, but might surprise with game performance.

I agree with SC. KF is pretty rigid that a starting QB generally needs to be a stable position. I think his view is that they have watched the QBs take a lot of reps in practice and have decided who the best QB is, and they need to stick with that even if game performance is not super awesome. They trust their judgment and the process. But, there is a difference between patience and stubbornness that KF has not always gotten right.
Frankly, given the weakness of two of our preseason opponents, I think its prudent to give both guys a look, at least taking advantage of any possible garbage time.

I agree with both of you. It's also very ironic that KF has always said he doesn't want to put the position on a pedestal or create prima donnas at QB...but then he treats the position unlike any of the others.
Every other position KF seems to strive to create competition and depth, slowly giving guys more snaps here and there as they earn them. He also says he owes it to the team to get guys on the field who give them the best chance to win. And obviously he values ball security above almost everything else, so if you give it up you are going to get pulled to reinforce that lesson.
Yet QB seems to the the only position where he is willing to go against all these rules for the sake of "stability".....even if the performance is far from stable.

QB and Center. Lindy was an adventure his first year as a starter, but KF's patience there was obviously warranted.
And yes, KF preaches ball security and will bench RBs that fumble, but he let Deacon keep his job game after game when he was a turnover machine.
