Have a colleague who is dead set in his mind that Iowa should bring back the 2017 OSU alternates for this game. Can't change his mind. I think that colleague is a complete moron.

What happened in 2017 is not going to happen again. Period. That's not a dig at our football team, it's a reality in 2026...we are not anywhere near them in depth, NIL money, you name it. There is about a 0.07% chance that Iowa wins this game.

The 2017 jerseys belong to the memory of the woodshedding. They are sacred even though I think they're ugly as sin. Do NOT tarnish the memory of what the boys did out there 9 years ago by being cocky with your unis like Fleck, Lanning, and (isu) campbell do. Those jerseys live in infamy and it needs to stay that way. Wearing them this weekend and getting beat 31-6 would do nothing but give those assholes one more thing to laugh about and it would dilute the legacy.

Obviously Kay Eff isn't dumb enough to do that so the point is moot, but the idea is stupid as hell.
 
We were a 20.5 point underdog in 2017. Only a 14 point underdog in 2026. Never say never. :)

I agree on the uniforms. Those should be one-and-done. If they want to do something new, go for it, but don't rehash those.

The only alt uni I’ve ever liked Iowa in were the black color rush ones. I’m in favor of doing that once a year for the blackout game (if it’s at night)

The jerseys and uniforms mean nothing.

What's more important is what I do.
Must wear the proper underwear. And no Hawk gear on game day, UNLESS I am at the game or in Iowa City for an away game. My wife is out of town this week. So, I will wear Hawk gear all week so it's dirty for Saturday and I won't be tempted.

I wore an old school Reebok Tim Dwight jersey in my garage this weekend. I don't wear it often at all, and don't quote me on this but if I remember right the few times I have worn it on game day we're undefeated.
 
You do alt uniforms to get the crowd and players even more juiced. The uniforms aren't fairy dust, but they can serve as a sign that this is about as big a game as Iowa will have. OSU is used to big games. This will be like their 4th hardest game this season. The crowd and home field are about all we have to hope on for a win in this one.

I am fine with bringing them back.

Just not the 2017 ones. Bring back the black color rush 2015 jerseys.
 
My 11 year old daughter was wearing pink shorts with a Hawkeye shirt for the first quarter and a half of the ISU game. We made her change and the Hawks almost immediately started playing better. Both my 11 and 13 year old were wearing pink shorts for the first three quarters during the Michigan game. We made them change and look what happened. Pink shorts are off limits on Saturday. It’s only stupid if it doesn’t work.

I was on a Alaskan Cruise during the game. My wife was using some of our 150 free Wifi minutes to keep me on how the score was going. What's the latest honey? She logs on to the ships Wifi. 'Iowa up by one point in the second half.' No shit??? Then the bad news later on as she logs on. 'Michigan up by five points with just under three minutes left in the game." Who has the ball? 'Michigan."

I then tell her lets go catch a late dinner and maybe a magic show or comedy show............... knowing our past history against Michigan in the Big House. I am thinking this game is over. Later that night I ask her to log on and see how bad we got beat. "IOWA WON by one point." That's not funny, I tell her. She then turns the phone towards me so I can see the score. WTF??? When we returned to Seattle and got off the ship my special needs son and I were wearing our Hawkeye garb and numerous fans approached us and congratulated us on the win over Michigan. A common comment we heard was "Anytime Michigan loses it's a great day."
