Way too many internet tough guy situations going on.
Some people are just happy not being the worst team in the conference every year and believe Iowa is very lucky to ever be in the top half of the Big 10. This group believes they are realistic and most things are based on luck, karma or some sort of higher power. This group also believes that they cannot and shouldn't have to overcome obstacles to become great. (Usually 2nd born in a family)
Others are never happy unless they are the best at everything they do and their favorite teams must follow the same mantra. This group doesn't believe in luck and believes you create your own future. They knock down doors and anything else in their way. (First Born)
These two groups very rarely see eye to eye and explains the constant bickering. There also is a middle group that just has fun talking about anything Hawks and sees both sides. These people see the two extremes as crazy and find both of them amusing.
They are all in the Hawkeye "Family" but fight like siblings. They all know deep down that they "love" each other but drive each other freaking crazy.
Which one are you?

Alright there is only one rule ELE. Everybody love Everybody .
You wanna go????
Or some of us simply realize that it's just a freaking game and recognize that how we feel about our sports teams is not indicative of how we live our real lives. The ones that get so upset about a freaking game pretty much show themselves to be someone who has absolutely no life outside of their sports team(s) and live vicariously through their successes and failures. Back in the day, we used to call these guys LOSERS. Still do, as a matter of fact.
oh ya, meet me by the monkey bars after school and we'll see who's tougher.....![]()
Because thats what HN does. It was a loy worse when i first started though. It's not that bad anymore
It's very similar to politics only instead of Dems vs Repubs it's glass half full vs glass half empty individuals. You can find realistic and rational posters on both sides of the fence, but you can also find extremists on both sides. Either way it makes for a pretty divided board at the moment. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing as long as people keep it respectful.
People focus on the other guy who disagrees with them rather than the issue.
I think KF is a fine coach. There are lots of fine coachs out there who don't get the outstanding results that you might guess they get. College coach in the big time needs big time support around him - yes of course good assistants but that apparatus that causes top recruits to come to that school is missing at Iowa. Somehow a dump like OkSt attracts outstanding skill players. Boise state gets kids from So Cal. you get the idea. Iowa sporatically gets the machine up and running but its not a humming machine like the top programs who always are at the top. So the big dogs around the program know that and they are fine with the results so the big dogs are not insistling on KF's head. They know some of it on them.
