Dumb thread. Lester has done nothing but demonstrate competence and good judgment since turning around Iowa's offense in two years. IF this is truly his call, I will go with his judgment. Regardless, Tim has a boss and that boss will make his opinion known. How many of you would do something directly contrary to your boss's express wishes? There is a lot going on with this decision, but Lester's job security aint one of them

Lester can’t magically make Iowa get a tier 1 or even tier 2 QB. He’s working with what he’s got and not letting him cook would be a devastating mistake, IMO. I’ll go so far as to say that Tim Lester knows more about football offense and evaluating quarterbacks than any other resident of the state of Iowa, including Kay Eff.
But yeah, fire him…

Agree with all this. That said, a good QB whisperer can elevate the talent he does have. Guys like Stanzi and CJ and Stanley were not Top tier recruits, but they got coached up and developed into really good college QBs.
I personally believe that Lester knows who he wants to play and I believe it is Heck. I also believe that KF leans towards Brown because of what he has seen in practice. I further believe that these two smart coaches reached a consensus to let it play out a bit more under live fire and go from there.
In the end, if they cannot come to consensus, KF needs to defer to Lester. If you hire the chef to cook the meal, you have to let him pick the ingredients.

Thus far I like Lester. The stew is still cooking and it smells pretty good. Can’t wait to see the final product at it’s maximum flavor in about two or three years when all of the ingredients have met there maximum flavor.
Just keep the captain out of the kitchen. Just let him work up front as a hostess.

Too funny, I made my post before reading your post. Maybe it’s lunch time and we both are just hungry.
I do think KF must snack a lot as he doesn’t seem as hungry as he was earlier in his career as Iowa’s head coach. It happens when people get older. You get more wisdom and know how to make the best meals with out stressing out about shopping around for the absolutely best ingredients. A major benefit for the captain is that his head offensive chef is very driven and want’s to build a reputation as a master chef. The defensive coordinator has already reached that point as a master chef.

I like Tim. He's utterly different than every coordinator during KF's tenure. He exudes confidence and charm. Therefore, I wonder if he's over selling himself. Talking about NFL all the time... well buddy, this is college. Do well here, then pop off.

Given the age of his kids and the vagabond life of a football coach, and what a cool place IC is to raise kids, I think the only job he is interested in beyond the OC at Iowa is possibly the HC position at Iowa when KF hangs them up. That said, everyone has a price, and he has demonstrated he knows his shit as an OC.

Dudes it was just a joke. Not trying to troll or get anybody riled up. Too much coffee that morning maybe while I was contemplating my uber important survivor pick! Or maybe just crazy from the heat down here in TX. Anyway a couple good games last night to get us going towards Saturday.
