Not a good sign...

I just realized something. The last time I was in a wedding, it was on September 18, 2004 when Iowa lost at Arizona State 44-7. I'm supposed to be in a wedding this September 18th when Iowa plays at Arizona. Should I disown my brother or test fate and go through with it?

Find a lawyer and start the paperwork ;)

The obvious answer is that you are now obligated to go to the AZ game and forget about the wedding.

Well this Iowa team is better than the '04 team, and this Arizona squad is nowhere near as good as that ASU team was. But I would go to the game anyway. That's just me though lol.

i don't think he was saying he was going to the game...i think he's just saying he didn't get to see the game because he was at a wedding and we got pimp slapped...so should he run that risk again.

start a big fight with your brother the week before the game. he wont' want you at the wedding. you watch the game. make up on sunday

The bigger question is, why do people still insist on scheduling weddings on saturdays during football season??? TopDog, you need to start coming down with the plague around thursday night and be on your death bed by saturday afternoon...watching the game with brews and tailgating food, once everyone else leaves for the wedding...then magically recover in time to celebrate the win!

Exactly! For years, and years, and years, I have seen people sneaking out of receptions to catch the score on the radio, or, they crane-neck and strain to see the small, tiny, bar-tv at a small town Iowa community center.

my girlfriend told me she wants to get married on a saturday in the fall. i asked her who the guy she planned on marrying was

Haha! This irritates me beyond belief! There are freaking 52 Saturdays in a year, and so many people have to pick one of the 12 that Iowa has a game on. Even worse is if they pick one of the 6-7 Iowa has a home game on!

There is a way around it though. My buddy is getting married this fall, but he is doing in on the bye week! Genius.

We have not had a bye week during the season for years, so it will be different, but he just went up a notch in my book for scheduling it when we are off!

Not sure why he wants to get married on that day. Can't speak for him or understand him. I'm just related to him on my parents' side...

I was thinking of the whole plague thing. Or maybe more of a Ferris Bueller type coughing attack.

Get a big "troll" lookin doll and name him Jo Boo. A cheap bottle of rum. Maybe a live chicken. Umm what else. Some incense and candles. Should be good to go...

My brother is planning his wedding for a Saturday in the fall... I think he'll be smart and find a bye week or something though. His main reason, he wanted to be able to Iowa Tailgate for his bachelor party! We might not be able to see the field by the time that tailgate is over.

In reality, I think it's the wives-to-be trying to take one last Saturday of Hawkeye football away from us because they know there is no other way.

Good... your hate has made you powerful. Now fulfill your destiny and take your place in front of a TV watching the Iowa game!

I was at that game back in '04, it was over for me before it even began. It was 100+ degrees most of the day, then a monsoon came in and rained sideways for an hour or more which delayed the the start of the game, not to mention soaked the Hawkeye huddle. Then we proceeded to get slaughtered, and after the game I vowed to never return to Arizona again.

I don't think you even need to ask the question, you know what you have to do! On the flip side, is it wrong if you are wearing an ear peice and listen to the game during the ceremony?? If your brother is a good hawk fan, he will understand.

I actually tried to do that on a date my senior year of high school. I took a radio in with me at the theater to try and catch the Syracuse game in 2007. I couldn't get any reception in the theater, however. That's the only game I've missed in 7 years.

My brother is a smart smart man. He's marrying a girl thats a die-hard Iowa fan. So they're getting it taken care of in July so they don't even flirt with the disaster of scheduling on an Iowa game. I'm pretty sure they'd both skip their wedding to go to the game or atleast have TV's up everywhere during the wedding and reception so everyone could watch if they were dumb enough to schedule during an Iowa game. that stuff should be outlawed.
