Nebraska/Michigan Game--A couple tough thoughts

I watched it on and off. Really good game. Well played. Michigan came out on top. Barely. Nebraska was missing a couple players. They led almost the entire game until Michigan pulled it out. Two disturbing thoughts:

Nebraska looks legit. I know their record supports that, but watching them live a few times, these guys share the ball, pass well, shoot well, rebound, and play really good D. They remind me of a more talented version of Iowa. This is not a flukey deal. Hoiberg has cobbled together a bunch of good players who are better than the sum of their parts.

Sanford--the kid have surpassed 20 points for seven games in a row!, Ugg. I thought Dix was the real loss, but Sanford is making me wonder. Both guys would have done well in McCollum's system. We could certainly using the scoring punch. What might have been!

I think Pryce is the guy BM would have most liked to have kept in the fold. But Hoiberg has evidently figured out the NIL game and paid him well to come to Lincoln.

I think I've seen that they have more good players coming in next year so maybe they can sustain their success.

I hope we can match Nebraska's success in bringing in good talent over the next 2-3 years.

Nebraska reminds me of Iowa. Its a bunch of really good players that have bought into a system and because they all believe in what they are doing, they make each other better. I am no Hoiberg fan, but he is a good coach and I think he finally was able to attract a team to Lincoln that totally buys in. Iowa has the same vibe, but Nebraska seems to have a better class of players. This game will be fun to watch. Steel on Steel.

It took Fred several years to get his talent level up. I hope we do the same.

Your steel-on-steel comment, I see we play the Huskers twice towards the end of the year which isn't that far away.

As to Sanford, I find myself breaking one of my long held rules, which is wishing the best of luck to kids who transfer out. I will choose to blame his parents. They had two kids who were treated like royalty in Hawk Country. Gratitude? Nope.

Blasphemy to say this, but I enjoy watching Nebraska basketball this year.
