NDSU to join MWC football only in 2026

I don’t care anymore. We all know where this is heading. It is about how many members will be allowed in the club.

I can't help but wonder when will Nebraska join them in the MWC.
Interesting story, the former Nebraska AD is coming out with a book. One of the topics in it is that he explored the possibility of Nebraska going back to the Big 12. They eventually thought better of it (due the $$) and it must not have come out publicly at the time. Kind of shows you where their minds were and probably still are. Poor Nebraska!

Sounds like Nebraska was asking around in 2021, including reaching out to Oklahoma to see what they thought of the idea. Then in July 2021, Oklahoma and Texas announced they were leaving the Big 12 for the SEC. At that point I am pretty sure Nebraska gave up on the idea of re-joining the Big 12.

Sacramento State in California has agreed to join the MAC for football only in 2026, moving up from FCS to FBS.

Sac St will pay a total of $23M to make the move. $5M to the NCAA and $18M to the MAC.
Is this where Barta landed? Of all the strange conference moves, this one may be the worst.

I saw that, and here I was all excited to go buy the book and read some dirt. But looking around I see that it's 697 pages with only two short chapters about nebraska.

I think I'll pass. Especially since you can read damn near everything nebraska-related in news articles.

Yes, which is why I made my suggestion. Big 12 is now probably too tough for them, if they head to the MWC perhaps they can rekindle their glory years.

The former AD's story about going back to the B12 was hilarious, he even went as far as to meet with the B12 commissioner so it sounded like a real possibility.

It's funny, Nebraska was brought to the Big Ten to give the football TV ratings a boost, now I think having Nebraska in the conference is a net loss. So if Nebraska ever wants to leave I don't think anyone would really care, without football they add no value.

Well....

Nebraska is a good host for the Big Ten baseball tournament.
