NCAA wrestling seeds are out...

...and if all the Hawks wrestle to their seed, Iowa will have 7 All Americans. Since 5 of those 7 are seeded 6th-8th, not likely, but certainly something to shoot for.
The quirkiest seed is Ferrarri at 184. He was seeded 8th at the BTen tourney, finished 8th at the BTen tourney, and is seeded 7th at the NCAAs. No other big news, although I was a little surprised to see Petersen at 125 seeded as high as 8th. And Keuter's stock also rose to 8th following his solid work at the BTen tourney.

The Hawks got good seedings, but i dont think they will wrestle up to their seedings. Hope I am wrong.

We’ll be lucky to get more than one or two guys to reach the semifinals, if that even happens. Does the team finish in the top 5 or is that a reach?

5th place would be a serious reach. Other teams like Nebraska and Ohio St. and Iowa St. would have to collapse, and that's not likely. More likely 7th.

It would be interesting to see the projected point totals for each of the Top 10 teams based on seedings. Of course those totals can be misleading, as they don't take into account match bonus pts...but still it would give a bit of a benchmark.

This past regular season has to be the lowest bonus points in Iowa wrestling history. It’s bonkers. If I were a betting man I’d also say this has to be the fewest Iowa takedowns in history too.

The only bonus points I see coming are from 165,174 and thats only a couple of matches. Maybe one from 133.

Yeah, I'm thinking 6-8, with probably 4-5 AAs

Putting my Iowa focus aside, I'm looking forward to some of the semifinal and final matchups that are likely to happen. Some intriguing battles at several weight classes.

125 - Lilledahl, Ventresca and Seymour
133 - Forrest, M. Blaze and Davino
165 - Messenbrink and J. Blaze
174 - Haines and Ruiz
197 - Barr and Elam

Messenbrink will probably roll through, but J. Blaze has some sick defense and scrambling ability. Haines/Ruiz could be a nail-biter.

I never thought I'd say this but over the past few years I've turned more into one of those fans who follows the sport in general with less focus on the Hawks. There just isn't anything fun about Hawk wrestling anymore. No contenders, zero offense, no high spots on the roster like there always were. Even in the Zalesky years there was always at least one guy who was a potential threat at a title.

The guy who intrigues me the most is Ross. I don't see anyone in the same league as him and if there was ever anyone who could end up holding a candle to Steveson it's him and wrestling under Taylor at OKST is literally the best place he could end up. If OKST can get some money rolling in they could give PSU a run in a few years. And not just a close second...Taylor is the real deal.

It pains me to say it, but, yeah, same here.

With Ross, the hardest part obviously is losing an in-state blue-chip talent.

Jax Forrest also has three years left there. He's the best at the lower weights I've seen since Spencer.

I can't make myself wish Ross went to Iowa. I've tried.

If the Hawks had a team with some potential like back in 2020-ish era I'd be mad, but Ross going to Iowa would be a complete waste of his potential. I truly think Taylor has one single missing piece and that's money. If he can get some, OKST can tip PSU over.

For the foreseeable future, OKST from my perspective is the only program that has a puncher's chance. It won't be easy, though.
