Runs deep -
Their local station 1620 The Zone has local shows ALL day long and obviously very pro Nebraska. They are obsessed with Iowa. ... and I am not even exaggerating when I say obsessed. Iowa comes up in EVERY segment, on every show and while most Husker ding dongs are going to deny the rivalry, it's becoming undeniable that their program is starting to look east with envy and as a bar to set where they want to be physically and fundamentally as a program to compete in the West.
The Omaha World Herald is also obsessed with Iowa. I mean, they have to sell a lot papers across the river, so of course they cover the Hawks, but they take every opportunity to take a crack at Iowa in print. To paint the Hawkeyes as a inferior program that can't hang with the likes of Nebraska. If there's bad press for the team or even the state, they love to report it and put it on the front page. If it's good news for the program or state, it gets buried.
Their TV stations - exactly the same. Love to report on Hawkeye downfalls. I remember in 2015 - right before Iowa played Purdue, I watched their sports breakdown of the game where their channel 7's sports guy Thor Tripp described Purdue as a "JV highschool team" that Iowa was playing that weekend. What was rich because Nebraska had literally just lost to Purdue a few weeks prior. Clueless
This morning - they are FIRED up about the B1G Fall Tour reactions. Fawning over the "physical practice" comments. Losing their minds and basically calling the B1G crew full of hyperbole and lies.
If you like to hear about Iowa football, might I suggest tuning into 1620 on Tunein Radio any time you'd like. They talk more about the Iowa Hawkeyes then any Des Moines station would.
