My Main Concern For This Year.

I really have a concern about depth at many positions/units. Iowa is coming into this season as not having the most experience (starters coming back) and Iowa has questions in many areas such as D line, O-line etc.. I do have concern filling these holes but even more having quality depth. I have confidence the coaches will peg quality guys to start but boy, what are we going to have behind them.

I don't obviously have much concern at RB but Iowa in general will be young and going thru a lot of changes this year along with key coaching. We will see.

I see solid depth at every position except DL. Now, the depth at other positions may not have a lot of game experience, but I think we will have a lot of back-ups that have been in the system for a couple of years or were productive portal guys. That's a very Iowa thing. As for the DL, I wish I could just worry about depth, but there I am also worried about the size and talent level of the starters. How that group comes together could make or break the season.

Yeah, I remember when Iowa's defensive goal was to keep the total opposing rushing yds below 100.
This season I'll be hoping they can keep it under 175 yds/game!

Luckily, not a lot of teams play smash mouth football anymore. Even the old West teams have mostly gone away from 3 yards and a cloud of dust. Iowa has shown it can win with quicker, undersized DL. There is some talent there, but there is so little experience. Need a lot of coaching up.
