Today Cook's TD would be reviewed and possibly overturned.

But today is not 1987, and that play helped get Earle Bruce fired.

My wife and I honeymooned in Ireland in 2003. I got hooked on Smithwicks (pronounced "Smidicks" by the Irish). By the end of the honeymoon, I was drinking it like iced tea.

After returning home, I searched online and found out that it wasn't exported to the U.S. by Guiness (which bought out the company years ago). I stumbled across probably close to 200 people that likewise were looking for it.

After about 6 months, I was walking down an aisle in a grocery store and ironically there it was.

One thing I have learned, though, is 1., It is amazing out of the tap, and, 2., It has a very short shelf life. If left in the fridge more than a couple of months it loses it's flavor.
Gary Dolphin's bar in Dubuque has Smidicks on Tap (which you would expect with Dolph's Irish heritage)

I try to get to at least one Iowa game down there each fall.

Unfortunately it wasn't this one. Maybe rhe Badgers on Halloween.

After that amazing comeback that reminded us of the great comeback wins that have been noted by many, i decided to listen to the radio postgame show even though there were other good games on TV.

During the post-game radio show, Dolphin mused "This Hawk win will live in infamy!" (And no, he wasn't talking about how Gander fans will remember it.)

Yes, he's a legend, and was recently honored with the naming of the Kinnick broadcast booth after him, and deservedly so, but ouch!

And as he was signing off, he said "and the final score from Ann Arbor: Michigan 20, Iowa. . .no. . .Iowa 20, Michigan 19". (Most assuredly, stuff like that happens to all of us. But paired with the win "living in infamy", Dolph has had many better days.)

But hey, after that incredible comeback W, it's all good!

Great point!
I respectfully disagree.

If MI kicked the extra point, then after the Iowa TD it would have been tied at 20. All the Hawks would have had to do is kick the extra point to win. The likelihood of that happening is high enough that MI not going for two would have looked like a poor decision, because if MI converted the 2 pointer, Iowa's kicked extra point would have tied the game, and it would have gone to OT. Or the Hawks would have had to go for two themselves to win it in regulation. And if Iowa tried for two and failed MI would have won 21 to 20.

Thus, the risk/benefit comparison makes going for two the better option. At least that's my two cents' worth.

Fortunately, this is a debate that doesn't matter! HOW 'BOUT THEM HAWKS!?

"A-maizing win for Iowa"
" Maize goes home Blue"
"Wait (2) seconds...Iowa wins"
"Iowa is no slouch in the Big House"
"Underwood needs an undertaker"
"Iowa leaves Whittingham at witt's end"
“This is no Charlie Brown”

It's nice to see RVZ finally totally healthy. I've been touting him the last couple of years. I'm not sure even the coaches know how good he could be. Reminds me a lot of Jordy Nelson, the former Packer. Extremely happy for him.
Same graduating year as my son, coached against him (baseball) from K-12. The HS sports scene here is pretty tight knit since it’s so rural and Reece and my kid got to know each other fairly well.

100% without question the nicest and most humble kid I’ve ever met in sports. Hit me with a warm up pitch that got away from him between innings one time when I was walking behind home plate to 3rd (barely clipped my leg) Came straight up to me to apologize after the inning which wasn’t needed at all. His family is the same way, great people.

What he’s doing is awesome but I’m not surprised in any way that he’s having success.

Lutmer and Van Kekerix are the same type of kids.

Agree.

Going for two there was a no-brainer.

Going for it on 4th down is the call that's probably haunting him a bit.

So happy and still shocked Iowa won the game. Two positive things for sure. Iowa showed they can drive 90 yards in under 2 minutes with only 1 timeout. And, it appeared there were no serious injuries for the Hawks, at least that I saw.

On the flip side, I also give credit to Michigan on helping Iowa win for 2 reasons. The ineptitude of their coaching staff and the complete undisciplined behavior of the Michigan team with stupid penalties the entire day. Karma is a bitch Michigan.

While they completely outplayed Iowa on offense and defense, they didn't outplay the Hawks on the scoreboard, which in reality is all that matters at the end of the day.

BTN announced today that their Gameday crew will be at Wisconsin next week.

That almost certainly means that College Gameday has notified them that they will be in I.C. There's no way that the BTN crew wouldn't be in I.C. otherwise.
