Mitch King: All-Undrafted Team

It's good to see King get included on this list, hopefully he can find some playing time for the Colts this season.

Defensive Line: Mitch King, Iowa.
Slightly undersized tackle was a two-time All-Big Ten pick in 2007-08 and an All-American by several outlets as a senior, when he anchored the conference's best scoring defense -- a unit blitz-averse coordinator Norm Parker built largely around King's ability to disrupt blocking schemes and keep blockers off of the linebackers. At 6'1"/280 pounds, though, the essential measurables weren't there for draftniks. King spent last year on the Titans' practice squad and is currently trying to catch on with the Colts

Wow. There is only one player on that list that has made it in the NFL to any extent. Which makes me question the use of the word "snub," which in this case seems to mean "to treat with contempt or neglect."

That would be appropriate if these guys had signed free agent deals and had shown that the teams made mistakes. However, that just doesn't seem to be the case at all. Really seems more like a bunch of really good decisions that were not clouded by the false promise of success at a lower level.

From the article...

Not all of these former stars represent baffling oversights by the scouts, but they are the best college players at their respective positions to be left behind on draft day(s) since Mel Kiper Jr. began his plot to take over all media in 1990

Doesn't look like NFL success has anything to do with getting on the list. Kinda weird, I know.

I was surprised Fitzgerald was not drafted. I don’t want to make this a debate about Fitz but he did win back to back Nagurski and Bednarik Awards as the nation's best defensive player, in most cases that translates to a first round pick. Even if there is something that causes teams to be reluctant to draft the guy (which obviously was the case with Fitz) I would think some team would at least take him as a late round pick.

Just goes to show these guys actually do know what they are doing to some extent. More stories about guys that were supposed to be good who didn't pan out, than guys who slipped through the cracks to become stars.

he makes it with the colts and i'm buying a mitch king jersey to go along with the patsy jersey i will buy in the near future
