Cannot absolutely confirm, but a short time ago on College Sports radio, an announcer said that Louisville had signed two highly ranked players through the portal. The price tag was reportedly $13 million for these two. Now Alvaro has signed with Louisville. Hmm.

Hard to believe but then again these days lots of things hard to believe. Probably best player in Portal is the kid from Iowa State and at last check he was still available??

You have to wonder how that will work out. Last year, it was reported that Kentucky had the most expensive roster in college basketball. And they didn't even make it to the Sweet 16.

I am confident Al got seven figures. He has a great skillset and will flourish in the right system. He is going to be a pro basketball player for a decade in Europe. He was just a perfect fit for McCollum. It happens. No way he got 6 million though. That would be silly even by today's silly standards.

Louisville has big $. Good for Alvaro that's a proud hoops program serious about trying to compete. Hope he has a monster senior yr on that stage.

Not knocking Al at all, but he was a bench guy that averaged 8 points and 3 boards. On paper, that looks like a terrible waste of money.
That's what having a monster NCAA tourny can do for a kid... That's also what makes us losing him not hurt so bad.

I read the two were $9 million Bidunga and Shelstad. The third guy, Knox, made it estimated $12-13 and then Alvaro. They also wanted Blackwell from Wisconsin but he just went to Duke. Probably aren't done and $15 mil is not an issue for them. Funny that Iowa is now upper division with around 10 and a team like Louisville can go up to 20 lol.

Correct, he was seven figures here, he's not going to go somewhere else and make less money.

Nor do I blame him one bit; I would've told my kid to do the same thing. He's never going to sniff the League, this is the one and only chance he'll ever have to make enough money he'll never have to work a day in his life.
