Down 9 pts with 7 min to go, VA nailed 2 consecutive 3s to cut it to 3 pts. Then they hit another.
That's more than half of Iowa's TOTAL 3s for the entire game! In the last seven minutes their players made 3pters, they made difficult 2pt shots -- and they did it playing 3 games in like 5 days. Then won in double OT. They earned it.
And when a team these days shoots under 20% from 3, and 50% with FTs, it's gonna be tough to win. And I mean ANY game vs a D1 opponent. So unfortunate that Stremlow went completely cold from treyland the last 2 games....just unlucky timing, after nailing so many all season long.
The difference maker was when Iowa had that 9 pt lead with 7 min to play, and they nailed 2 consecutive treys. Completely changed the game.
I didn't see the end of the 1st OT, but sounds like if Chit Chat makes 3 of 4 FTs, they would have had a 3 pt lead with 18 seconds remaining and probably win. Feel bad for her -- she's carried the team at times this season and is uber talented.

Well, without any changes, I would guess next years starters and backups on day 1
Starter/ backup
1- Chit Chat / ?
2. Stremlow / Levin
3. Deal? / Mallegni? / Em-Rod?
4. Houston /Wolizcko
5. Heiden / Hays
I just have a hunch that Mallegni and EM-Rod will look around and may leave, but I have no idea what they are actually thinking. So my guess is 2 players will transfer.
Addie Deal had a similar freshman season to Alliah Guyton last year. Started out ok but she just kinda faded at the end of the year. But if Addie is told by the coaches what she needs to work on to gain a starting position, she will probably stay. But there is a lot she needs to work on, including her shooting.
I have a hunch that by February next year, Wolizcko will be starting at the 4, which might free up Houston to move to the 3.
Hays looks like a project. She will probably give it 1 more year at Iowa to see if her minutes go up.
Of course this all depends on if the Iowa coaches bring in anybody from the portal. If the coaches can find another Lucy Olson type to bring in, then you can bet a couple of guards will be hitting the portal.

So you think screaming at your players is a good idea? It hasn't worked for Bill Fennely and he gets pretty nasty with his players. Anyway Jan doesn't always pump sunshine.
