Kids Day

Hey fellas. As an Iowa fan stuck in Nebraska, what is Kids Day like? To bring my 4 kids ages 8, 6, 4, and 3, a game day seems too pricey. I am thinking of going but cannot find any online information. Any feedback is appreciated. Go Hawks!

Any time you can begin the indoctrination of your kids into Hawkeye fans, take it. Even if it may not seem like much to you, it will be huge to them, because presumably you're taking them there for them, not for you. I still remember my first time at Kinnick.

Its a good chance to sit in Kinnick, eat some popcorn, and watch the players on the field.

Here is last year's info:

Your kids are pretty young, so you'd want to get their early to do the Kids Zone stuff.

Players sign autographs after the practice, but your kids are probably too young to get there early and stay through to the end for autographs. I'd go for Kids Zone, watch 30 minutes of practice, walk around stadium a bit, then get out of there.

This. I have taken my kids the last few years, they are now 7 and 6. Being mid august, it is usually very hot so expecting them to sit for two hours is tough. I have always skipped the kid zone stuff though because if I get an hour out of the kids, I like it to be the end of practice when they are scrimmaging since dad is really the reason we go anyway.

I don't think the time/date has been announced, but early/mid August from 11am until 3pm is a fair guess. The kids zone will likely be your kids' favorite part, so I would echo the others' comments about that. My boy just turned 9, and he is insisting that we make the 5-hour drive from Minneapolis this summer and in future years (we went the last two years). Maybe he is unusual, but we do sit through the whole practice. Two years ago, the concessions wet 1/2 price, which makes it more affordable to keep kids' tummies happy and minds entertained. The event is free, just fyi. I think it is a great way to get your kids to Kinnick for their first time(s). Good luck! On Iowa!
