Jay has been hired as an offensive analyst that will focus on tight ends.

Hate to show my age but I remember when he played for the Hawks. He actually came on as a fifth year senior and had a good last year.

I sort of followed him thru the coaching ranks and was aware he was head coach at Nevada and then Colorado St.

He was the head coach at Colorado St when Jackson Stratton spent his time there and didn't play much. I did wonder if he played a part at getting Jackson his shot at Iowa.

Seems like he ought to be a good addition to the staff.

Welcome home, Jay, go hawks!!

Good addition but he has to be getting up there in years. He was a fifth year senior on the 1985 team as stated. This probably won't be a long term deal.

I remember his nickname was "scrap iron" sometimes shortened to scrap. He was one of many players that Hayden landed from Wisconsin in the 1980's.

These analyst deals are year-to-year. Hence you see Warren Ruggeiro leaving for an OC position after one year. As Z stated, he is 62. I'm thinking he must want to still land an assistant coaching gig somewhere and sees this as a platform to get there.

I heard on a Husker radio show that Nebbie currently has 23 coaches. Does Iowa have that many? Lord, that is like a coach for every 4-5 kids.
