When he came down with mono and lost x? pounds and missed 2-3 weeks, it pretty much sealed the redshirt year for him. From what I have read he really likes it here. Likes the coaches (raved about the assistants too) and the atmosphere of the team.

This is just one of many situations where I will trust Ben McCollum to do what is right.

It's amazing imo that Ben got this team to finish .500 in the B1G and coming into this year, Ben acknowledged it was something they'd fight all season and he often listed "size" as the biggest jump from the Valley to the B1G. I feel confident that Iowa is going to be a better post team moving forward. Ben is trying to win with what he has, trying to coach and play to his strengths and basically squeeze as much juice as he can from a roster he had to patch together without a ton of talent.

I for one think this roster has already overachieved.
