It's going to be fun beating Minny

I think if I was a football player, I'd be praying all the time that me and my teammates wouldn't get hit by a serious injury, or develop CTE.

There are no atheists in foxholes and maybe there shouldn't be any on the gridiron either.

No one said anything about atheists but I don't care what your religion is, imo it has nothing to do with football, and comes off contrived when players or coaches combine religion and sports.

If a player wants to prey he doesn't get CTE he can do it on his own time, not for thousands of fans.

Or if you're a fan who is bothered by prayer, you could leave the room or change the channel (whatever the case may be) once a coach or player invokes a prayer.

If there is one thing you can count on, its that Ferentz will not put a game like this on the back burner. The Hawks will show up ready to play, fully prepared and at full speed from the very first whistle.

i hope kf has never put any game on the back burner the way his teams play as a big favorite. but kf didnt have the hawks motivated against minny in 2010 and '11

PJ is doing what he has to do: bringing as much attention to the Minnesota program as possible. Can't fault him for selling his program the best he can. Particularly in a market where they are clearly behind 4 pro sports teams (Maybe they're equal of T wolves but they're gaining steam right now) and even the new soccer team seems to have some popularity.

We're talking about a program that hasn't won a conference championship in about 50 years and their fan base is basically alumni.

PJ definitely has a used car salesman vibe about him. Their fans will tire of Tim Brewster 2.0 by the end of the season. A guy like this mixed with one of the most fickle fan bases in the country is not a good combination.

It's more of the overt display of public piety not sitting well with many. Many deeply religious people have a private relationship with their God and find prayer circles at mid field little more than blasphemy. Having said that no one's taking away freedom of worship or religion.

Last conference title was 1967. Yep, 50 years.

Astonishingly they have an overall winning record against:
Illinois
Indiana
Iowa
Nebraska
Northwestern
Purdue

Non-losing record against:
Maryland
Wisconsin
Rutgers

Depends on what a person's motivation is. You can have public prayer and it can be used to witness to others and motivate them to deepen their relationship with God. Or you can have people who prayer only to be seen by others and look good. Just depends and only God knows a person's intentions.

I'm curious why you say that. More often than not...KFz has been blindsided by teams that came in more fired up while Iowa just "did what it does". (see ISU series for example 1A).
