Both of your assumptions are wrong.

A friend of mine was a professional gambler for about 10 years, primarily Texas holdem. He had first-hand knowledge of strategies casinos would use to entice "whales" to come in for a stay, and, the plants used to get as much money from them at the card table as they could. I've seen a few gambling movies, but that has nothing to do with what I posted.

As for blackjack, I wasn't referring to card-counters. As you wrote, counting into a modern shoe is next to impossible. These are players that simply are/were very good and consistently beat the house. As soon as the casinos see a trend, they often get black-balled. Seems disingenuous to me, but that is their legal right.

You can believe what you want, but whales are the lifeblood of those places and if it came to light that a casino was rigging games to squeeze money out of their high rollers through plants and inside men, said casino would lose its whales. It probably also breaks gaming laws to do shit like that. These places aren't run by the mob anymore and I cannot imagine any executive who would risk his job approving something like that and risking a gaming license. Why? The money just flows out of a tap as is.

Just passing along what I see as credible insider information.

It's been a long time since I have heard from him, but I agree, with all of the oversight and current monitoring, the possibility now is very unlikely. I know there was a brief time between mob control and sweeping commission directives where casino executives frequently scammed the "whale" players.

I feel like I am missing something. What's wrong with a plant? Are they required to share their winnings with the Casino? Are they fed info about what cards other players have? But If they are just good players brought in to give whales more competition, is that wrong?

I have a good friend who worked in Las Vegas casinos for years. Many of the big whales don't really care if they win or not. A lot of times they are flown in from anywhere in the world on the casino's private jet. Once they get there, everything is free; the best suites, food, drinks, etc. It's a big ego trip and they love the attention. Winning is secondary.

Not my story, so I don't know. Maybe this stuff happened back in the 80s. I would be shocked if it was happening now. Assuredly it would be illegal. Conspiracy.
