Pretty big logical leaps in that article. Landing McNamara (despite how it turned out) and Gron out of the portal were both big gets. But, NIL deals and agents and the like were still taking form. Both guys were somewhat close/familiar given where they transferred from, and Iowa paid a bag for both of them. Landing and developing Gron should be mostly credited to Lester. I will believe one of the new kids was a great get when I see them on the field scoring TDs. Spencer Petra was a high four star kid coming out of high school. Jake Christianson was at least a 4 star kid. We had that kid from Texas. We have had 3 and 4-star QBs pretty regularly, so I don't see that as a trendline that
I note that the two guys at the top of the depth chart right now are not house hold names, to put it kindly. Outside of Iowa, expectations for QB at Iowa this season are pretty low. If Lester makes a productive QB out of one of them, I will fully drink the Lester kool-aid.

I can see that I'm sure you're not alone. My thoughts go to say Iowa has a pretty successful yr making him a hot commodity. And KF isn't ready to retire yet do we lose him? How much longer would he stick around as the OC if say he's got HC offers of any kind knocking on his door?

Good question. It's anybody's guess how long KFz will stay...could be next year, could be 5 more. I wonder how many current staff would stay if KFz left and Lester stepped up?
Christianson was an 'Elite 11' QB.

Yeah, in Iowa’s case four stars didn’t add up to much on several occasions. Hopefully Lester can be the difference we need.
The last guy was a train wreck, however no use in beating a dead horse.

False. The law of averages is also known as the Gambler’s Fallacy. It’s not a thing. Just like every coin flip is an independent event, so too are recruiting results.
And Brad Banks was a WR his freshman yr from a Juco school. We've had the wildest of swings when it comes to bringing in guys who have high expectations and don't do shit to kids that nobody else wanted and somehow we turn em into household names.
As soon as somebody thinks they have recruiting all figured out with one lucky guess they'll soon get humbled.

I’m not 100% there yet, but I am getting close in terms of wanting Lester to be the next HC. If he understands that Iowa is developmental program, and will likely always be(despite the recent Indiana success)…I’m all in.

Maybe that’s why he came here. Kirk might want to feel it out. Pure speculation.
2006 was still a great class and would have been historical if the Illinois kids panned out. Christensen, Bain and Doering were busts.
Those "kids" are almost 40 now...I'm old.
