ISU Pre-game discussion

And the defensive coordinator on the SDSU team? None other than..... Jimmy Rogers.
Ugh. I didn't know/pay attention to that.
Let's see him try to completely stack the box this time.
If Brown can be 10% better than Petras....Hawks win 14-3.
A field goal, 2 safeties, and a lone touchdown.
I'll take it.

Edit: Changed 25% to 10%.

I actually worry a bit about ISU.
If "it's their super bowl" has ever been true....this is one of those years.
They have ZERO to lose in any game. Zilch. That can make people give 120%.
The fact that there's relative radio silence out of Ames....on one hand, that can be because they're just heads down trying to put together what they can. It can also mean "ssshhhh. Don't nobody say anything, we got something decent here. Let's sneak up on everyone."
ISU admin isn't stupid.
Neither is their coach, apparently.

In our favor. ISU is a significantly brand new team. It's a home game. It's a night game. With a little extra emotion. I'm gonna be transparent here. About me going on about the decals. While I think it's a really fitting tribute, as much in this case as others, Iowa is 4-0 in games played without decals. Including one against OSU. Again, I absolutely think it's right and a good way to honor the kid. But, I will not deny knowledge of the history.

Might like to add the game against UNI, blocked the field goal twice to win by one point .... but I think that was the same year we won the Orange Bowl, so you never know!!

I am 100% chalking that up to Kirk Ferentz teams (when it's just one Ferentz on the sideline) do absolutely develop over the season. That's the nature of coaching at Iowa, and not Alabama/OSU. You have way more players at positions that require way more development and aren't as ready to go out of the box. Hard to argue too many do it better more consistently than Kirk.
