Iowa wins next week, and it looks like the Outback Bowl

With a game against an SEC team, maybe Alabama or Arkansas. Not what we wanted, but, we might as well make some lemonade out of this season.

I dont buy it....I think Penn State ends there after they beat MSU this week. Why would the Outback want Iowa for the 4th time in 7 years.....an Iowa team that couldnt beat its way out of a wet paper bag at the moment

I think its Gator or Insight no matter how the rest of the season plays out.

If MSU beats Penn State next week, do you think they'd take a 7-5 (4-4) Penn State team over an 8-4 (5-3) Iowa team, that Iowa beat earlier in the year? Further, if the Outback opponent is Alabama, I don't think they'd want a PSU-Bama rematch. A win, and I think it's another Outback Bowl trip. I think any remaining bowl prospects will be a tough sell for Iowa fans this year, but a good SEC opponent might be worth it.

It was a business decision in 2008 when the Outback Bowl selected Iowa over Northwestern, even though NW had a better conference record and beat the Hawks head-to-head.

It will be a business decision in a couple of weeks when the Outback Bowl selects Penn State over Iowa as the Big Ten's 4th selection. No way do they want to pass up Joe Pa's potential final game, and Penn State fans will travel very well for this game.

Iowa is likely Gator Bowl bound, though they could fall lower if they lose to Minnesota on Saturday.

IF PSU wins they will go to the Outback bowl. Iowa will have lost 2 of our last 3 (assuming we win) and 3 of our last 6. PSU will have lost 1 of their last 3 and only 1 of their last 6. That alone will be enough to justify taking PSU over Iowa but in reality who do you think draws a broader national audience? PSU

IF PSU loses to MSU then Iowa may go to the Outback bowl but it's not as easy of a decision as some would think.

I think we will end up in the Gator bowl or worse.

So you're saying the Orange Bowl doesn't make very sound business decisions then right?
