She also would give us that stretchy 4 that we lacked last year. My guess would be she ends up some place like UCONN, TCU, LSU, or Teaxs (a deep pocketed blue blood). But I would take her in a heartbeat.

I think Deal just saw that she had the starting gig and lost it to someone only a year older than her. When you have been the star of the team since you were 8, its hard to see the bench. Jensen and Bluder have had no issues developing and featuring wings and guards. I just think Deal did not think she was getting the minutes she deserved. Too bad, I think she was in line to take Kylie's spot next season. Is what it is. Guards can be found in the portal.
 
Obviously, it would be great if Audi Crooks was lighter, both for performance and for health. She knows that (her father struggled with diabetes and died at 55), and I guarantee it is something she has tried to achieve. Speaking personally, I am obese, and I have a lot of obesity in my family. I can attest that obese people are acutely aware of their situation. People with obesity think about it constantly (there are many reminders in the world that you are obese), and they are constantly striving to remedy the situation. But for some, it is very difficult to make much progress.

Crooks is a college student, and she is an elite BB player, not just because of her size, but because of her skill.


She also won 4 state titles in T&F (3 straight in shot, 1 in discuss).

So, we know she can work, and we know she is bright (listen to her interviews). For those that have never struggled with weight management, or who have successfully overcome struggles, I simply ask you to consider that your experiences might differ from someone else's in a way that makes it difficult to understand what they are dealing with, and to perhaps extend some grace.

Lastly, please watch this feature on Audi Crooks. I just think it puts things into perspective:

 
I can't imagine this year has been any fun for Crooks. She needs a reset. I'd be tempted to find the right fit of a program, and take a redshirt year to fully commit to physical and mental health. Get away from the games and media and go all in on health and conditioning. Like I said, it'd have to be the right fit, and they'd need deep enough pockets to work with her over two years. But I think the payoff for both parties could be pretty good.

Or maybe do the same thing then go to the WNBA? I guess college WBB with NIL would probably be more lucrative.

The young woman has talent. Her coaches have failed her, not trying to help her get into better shape. Even a moderate change in her body composition would help her. She won't be able to hang in the WNBA, they move up and down the court too fast.

I was being a bit of a smartass on "equality". I looked too. Don't see weights on college rosters (checked Iowa and UConn) but they are listed on the WNBA rosters.

That dark side of me would love to see Pretzelburger bail. But I don't think it's gonna happen, at least not yet. Men's bball is the only saving grace of the athletic program right now. He's in a position to call his shots and get what ever he wants from Pollard.

I don’t know to be honest about the money but I also don’t think anybody really does.

If they are annoyed at Iowa State women’s basketball being a one woman show… well it’s been that for a decade.

It has been and with the players they've had, it should've been.

There's a bit more on the line now with NIL, whether you're staying or going. As far as the money or any other detail, this person is close enough to Audi to know. I just didn't ask.
