Iowa/NIU game thread

And you absolutely should. Worth noting, my lack of posting the last few months has nothing to do with my fandom. They switched firewalls at work and 90% of the time I simply can't get on during free time at work and don't have the time off the clock, but damn it I missed this place. Hope I'm able to stay around all season.

(Finally) being retired has its benefits. Watching Iowa FB /posting unencumbered being two of them!

LOL I'm still coaching 3 academy soccer teams 10 months out of the year. If I was retired I wouldn't have any down time at all.

Was gonna make the trek, saw the weather and noped out faster than Usain Bolt wearing white pants on his way to the shitter after a 12 pack of Old Style and 3 crunch wrap supremes.

I’m 46, been to a bazillion Iowa games, and am now too old to put myself through September scorcher JV games on purpose. I did my time for years and now I choose to do A/C instead. Call me soft…could not care less. Football was not meant to be played nor watched in 105° heat indexes and 76° dew points.

Agree.

I call the first couple of non-ISU home games "amateur hour."

Parents bringing kids ages 2-5...crying, pooping their pants, up and down, up and down, kicking me in the back, spilling food all over, paying 0% attention to the game.

Gawd, can't they find a baby sitter for one freakn day?

I'll pass as well.

P.S. I have VIP tix for Ohio State....don't ask me how much :)

This ain’t football weather. I’ll be soaking in the Mississippi for the game likely will listen to Dolph some. Next week I’ll be in front of the boob tube

Most of the games this weekend are trash. Maybe 4 or 5 could be interesting. I will be watching Iowa/No. Illinois, but I have a non-football watching, to-do list, that needs to be done before and after the game.

Smart move might be to go with the road white jerseys, or even yellow, on a day like this.
Black has to add to the misery.

"Under NCAA rules, the standard setup is: visiting team wears white, home team wears a contrasting/dark color. But the home team can wear white instead if both teams have agreed to it in writing before the season. Without that agreement, a home team switching to white is a rules violation (unsportsmanlike conduct penalty).

That's why "whiteout" games at home stadiums (Arizona, Penn State-style events, etc.) require the athletic department to formally arrange it with the visiting team and conference in advance — it doesn't happen spontaneously. A few programs like LSU and Georgia Tech have standing waivers to wear white at home routinely rather than a one-off agreement."
