Iowa had fewest Portals out

I think that says something positive about the program
What? That no other teams wanted our guys?

I kid.

KF has maintained his culture even with the invasion of NIL and the portal. That is why he continues to win 8-10 games per year, every year. Let's hope the football gods give him one more really special season before he rides off into the sunset. He deserves a trip to the playoffs before he retires.

While I think Kirk likes beating the traditional Big Ten powers more than anything, there would be something extra sweet about an out of conference "name brand" coming to Kinnick in December.

That might be a special feather in Kirk's career cap. Mid to late December, Kinnick and the surrounding lots abuzz like never before, the crowd electric from the opening kickoff, and an LSU or Alabama or Texas wondering what they've gotten themselves into.

Slate gray afternoon, lows 30s, as it melts into darkness the Kinnick lights illuminate the drizzle descending onto the crowd...before long, soft snowflakes begin to gently flutter. Kirk looks around and says it doesn't get any better than this.

Damn, you paint a picture! That would definitely be a fun game to watch.

They need to expand the on-campus playoff games. So much more compelling than a game in the SuperDome.

Sounds like you are describing our beatdown of Wisconsin in 2020.

If they moved to a 16 game playoff and the first two rounds were on campuses, that would be 12 games. At least half of those are going to be in states that are relatively cold in the December. Outside of Syracuse, I can't think of any college team that plays in a dome.

College is different than the NFL in this regard. There is no bearing between a player and his team because of the draft. So, even when Miami is playing in Buffalo, there are guys on Miami's team that are from the North and vice versa.

But, in college, a lot of the kids in the SEC are from the South and would have never played in or practiced in real, winter weather. College or high school. Ann Arbor in mid-December? Not lovely. South Bend, Columbus, Happy Valley, Iowa F'ing City? Welcome to town LSU!

Yep, I love it. And put the "final four" in back to back games, similar to the conference title games for the NFL. I'd go with a standard day. Either the Saturday before Christmas or on New Years Day.

I might be leaning towards New Year's. You could have some bowl games earlier in the day (maybe have them be conference "challenges" that count towards the number of automatic bids each conference gets the following year.

And then have the final four games at roughly 3 and 7.
