This is something to be proud of and it should be used to help with recruiting. I wish NFL draft picks translated to more wins than we've seen recently.
I agree.

You do know the Kirk haters will simply point out that Kirk's coaching is so bad that he has all of these NFL players and yet we can't do better than 7-6 type seasons?
Sorry to rain on your optimism parade.
Max amount of BIG data available for Nebby. Why 4 years?
If you can point out where that's an unfair critique, you deserve some kind of prize.
Sure. Kirk's good at developing players and so there's at least a small reason to be optimistic for the future.
The whole point is you can look at what the OP showed us in both a positive and negative way.
No one is ragging on his ability to develop players, specifically the OL. He's done this forever, and you'd have to mention he might be one of the best OL coaches around.
...
It's a shame that despite Iowa's ability to produce NFL players, we consistently rank near the bottom of our own conference in recruiting.
Kirk should be able to pick up the best lineman in the country with his Draft record alone. Come here, and I will mold you into the top drafted lineman in your class.
This should then lead to great running back recruits - we consistently have a line that will get you three yards of push before you even get touched and will break you into the second level and get you a ton of yards. We run a lot because of it and we would like you to be featured behind that line.
Then the good running backs should lead to decent receivers - other teams can't stop our run game, so they load the box against us. With your speed on our team, we could throw play-aplay action bombs to you for touchdowns on any given play.
I don't understand the recruiting woes, with this type of a draft track record.
Why 4 years?
After today, I bet we have the least Big10 wins over the last 1 years as the dependent variable and # of 1st round NFL draftees as the independent variable.
What I don't get is despite Kirk's impressive track record with sending lineman to the NFL, many in the 1st round, is he's still having to convert TE's to OT's and try and lock down 3 star lineman even though he's had this rep for years now. I do like the Paulsen twins coming in but those are Iowa guys. With what Kirk has done with sending lineman to the NFL he should be turning away 4 star recruits.
Look at Indiana who is bringing in a higher ranked recruiting class than Iowa and Indiana hasn't had a 1st round selection in over 25 years.
We missed our window after 2005 class. Yes, there were a lot of burnouts...but the core of that group got us 2008/2009 seasons (despite coaching keeping us from going higher).
We are predictable. We don't play to win. Doesn't matter if you're an OL recruit, if we don't play an exciting brand of FB, they won't come here. People want to compete for championships, but on prime time. Iowa hasn't been there for over half a decade.
Until our style of play changes (which it won't under KF), then we'll continue to get leftovers in recruiting.
Again, goes to show how good of a position coach KF is to take these lightly recruited kids and make them millions.
Shame that's all we're known for at this point.
The answer to all the questions on why all these draft picks have translated into success on the field is simple. Look at the player positions. They're all OL, TE or defensive players. Football is an offensive driven league now. When's the last time we sent a QB, RB, or WR?

Beat little sister on a consistent basis and Kirk would be golden.
