I Hate Notre Dame…

Does anyone like Notre dame?
No. They come off as so entitled, think their shit doesn't stink and think the rules should not apply to them. On top of that, they get preseason rankings every year like Nebraska. I loathe them.

Kind of like Michigan, I guess. Lol.

I live in STL.

The number of Catholic parochial schools here is very very high. Notre Dame is like the default team to appreciate for anyone who didn't go to Mizzou or didn't go to a power 3 school. And even then, if you went to say, Vanderbilt, you would be at least a part time ND fan. And since SLU has no football team, they cede a lot to ND.

And it's not a rabid fandom. Which is almost worse. It's just sort of like and expectation to appreciate them. If SLU even had a poor FCS team, it would be more tolerable around here. So, when someone around here finds out you don't like ND, they will actually question you. Like "Why do you hate them?"

My answer?
"Because they're not Iowa. I hate every team that isn't Iowa. You should ask me how I feel about Nebraska."

I do point out, that ND gets way more love, attention, and hype than they deserve. And the more unrequited hype you get, the more I will hate you.

For Iowa, I wanted Wisky to lose. Iowa competes very directly with Becky. I loathe ND but Wisky needs to continue to tank.

I lived in Madison when they were great. I learned to really hate them.

It's really hard for me to REALLY hate Wisconsin.
I thought about going there. My middle kid briefly considered it.
Great campus. I kinda like Madison. Great students. Fun school.

I hate them, because they slightly outperformed Iowa there for a goodly chunk.
Also, the "jump around" thing is lame and feels manufactured. They weren't the first to do it.

When that's all I got to work with? Especially now that they seem a bit like a boat with no power in an ocean with big waves. I'm gonna stop now before the hate turns into pity.

I'm not doing any of those things...

I am.

Doing an OK job accumulating wealth. I do enjoy fine things, but my definition of fine is a bit more boring (like a refrigerator that will last more than 5 years) and local/cheap wines. My tastes tend to not be overly expensive. You'll never catch me on a cruise or going to Disney.

And I know I am better than everybody else.

Really great points. Madison is a wonderful city with great people, great outdoor activities, and a great school.

My kids live there and I miss that area. Hell I may even return there someday.

Having said that, I still hate the Badgers ;)

Loo Holth overcame a lot in hith life, but one thing he never could learn how to do wath to put hith teeth together when he thpoke and he thpit on people when he talked.
Ironic the moment I read "Lou Holth overcame a lot in hith life" I pause without finishing and instantly thought to myself that "a speach impediment wasn't one of those".

And hate the Notre Dame University. My kids go to Notre Dame Elementary/HS so I have to throw the university part in there. But absolutely hated the high school growing up as well.

Same. Cooking myself a ribeye when I feel like it and not working about my grocery bill satisfies this requirement for me. Might buy an iPhone 18.

I mean, I'm not gonna apologize for it either.

A full 1 in 17 Americans will take a cruise this summer. I'm not one of them. I could never do a cruise. I would be so anxious about leaving the boat for an excursion, I'd basically get to the end of the dock and turn around so as not to miss departure. Can't see anything but water. I'm so old now, I guess I see the appeal of those Viking cruises. At least you'd get to see farm fields, shoreline, a few small towns and whatnot. Instead, we're doing 3 days at a BnB in North Carolina. We live large, my wife and I.

Although, I am plotting a trip to Slovenia if I can get my wife onboard. Once I showed her Piran, her interest was piqued. I'm literally most interested in trying out this carnelian sausage they have over there. Kind of like a polish or a kielbasa, but supposedly both heartier and sweeter. Also, they produce a buttload (technical term, a butt is a term for a wooden beverage cask, generally 100-120 gallons) of their own wine. A lot of it white wine....my fav. Of all countries, Slovenia has the highest percentage of consumption of wine made in their own country. Which seems like it would make it a fun place to be. Also, Tadej Pogacar is from there. Which has no bearing on this trip idea.

As much as the Yankees, ISU, and almost as much as nebraska.

I think it’d be funny as hell for them to get beat on their own network during prime time.
And you'll be rooting for...

LINCOLN, Neb. —
The Fighting Irish will be returning to Memorial Stadium to face the Huskers.

Nebraska football announced a home-and-home series against Notre Dame set for 2032 and 2033.
